M. S. Dhoni on Wednesday became only the second Chennai Super Kings batsman to reach 4,000 runs in the Indian Premier League, reaching the landmark against the Mumbai Indians with a brace off Jason Behrendorff at the Wankhede Stadium.
The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman is second only to Suresh Raina in CSK’s list of all-time run scorers. Raina has 5086 runs from 180 matches overall.
Dhoni, who scored his first half-century of this edition of the IPL against Rajasthan Royals at Chepauk, has a fifty in every IPL season since the inaugural edition in 2008.
The 37-year-old has 21 half-centuries, 19 for CSK and two for Rising Pune Supergiant, against his name in 178 matches. He, however, is yet to score a hundred.
