IPL 2024: Here are the qualification scenarios for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday.

Mumbai needs 34 runs to win off 6 balls. Naveen with the ball. SIX! Short and pulled away over deep midwicket for a maximum. That’s a 25-ball fifty for Naman Dhir and his first in the IPL. Full outside off and Dhir drills this over long-off, or almost, because Krunal pulls the ball back in on the edge of the rope. Just a single. OUT! Kishan chops on as he swings for the hills and his sluggish innings finally comes to an end. In comes Romario Shepherd. Naveen goes short and angles it down leg-side, called wide. 

Just a single for Shepherd at deep point next ball. Dhir misses this one, which is in the blockhole, and that’s a dot ball. SIX! Final flourish for Dhir as he sends this full delivery outside off over extra-cover for a maximum. 

That’s it then! From the match and from MI and LSG this season. MI confirms its last spot, finishing with just four wins from 14 games, while LSG is left to rue a season of what ifs. 

Mohsin runs in. Single for Dhir to start the over. Wide outside off and Rahul can’t collect it; batters scamper through for a single. SIX! Skillfully sliced by Dhir for a six over backward point. SIX! Two in two for Dhir. Slower one, shortish, anglish across, and Dhir clubs this over long-on for half a dozen more. A couple of full tosses in a row and Dhir and Kishan can only collect a single each. Another single, at long-off, for Dhir to end the over and he moves to 49. 

Naveen to bowl his third over. Back of a length outside off and swatted away by Dhir for a couple at deep midwicket. OUT! Short and Dhir goes for the pull and hands it straight to the fielder in the deep at square-leg. But wait, the buzzer goes off and that’s a no-ball for overstepping. FOUR! Dhir makes the most of the free-hit next ball, swatting this over the bowler’s head for a boundary. A couple more for Dhir at fine-leg as he stays in his crease and flicks this off his waist. Slow, short and very wide outside off. Dhir gets a toe end of the bat to mid-on for a single. 

FOUR! Full toss outside off and Kishan moves across his stumps and scoops this to the square-leg boundary with ease. Slower one and Kishan swings and misses to end the over. 

Missed stumping chance by KL! This rolled to the wicketkeeper off Dhir’s inside edge and Rahul stuck his boot out to get the ball to ricochet back onto the stumps, but missed. FOUR! Full toss and very wide outside off, but Dhir reaches out and gets enough bat on it to send it to the boundary at third. SIX! In the batter’s arc and Dhir hammers this over long-on for a maximum. Single to end the over. 

Matt Henry comes back. FOUR! Shortish, Dhir gets inside the line of the ball and helps the ball on its way over the keeper and to the boundary. This is hacked across the line through midwicket and a couple more for Dhir. Just a couple of singles to follow as the required rate almost touches 20 now. Just 10 runs from the over despite a first-ball boundary. 

Bishnoi to bowl out. He goes wide outside off first ball and Kishan slaps it down the ground for a single. OUT! And the procession of batters coming in and going out continues. Slog sweep but Wadhera picks out the long-on fielder to perfection. 

FOUR! Naman Dhir cuts this behind point and is off the mark with a boundary. Tucked off the waist through midwicket for a single to end the over. 

Nehal Wadhera c Krunal Pandya b Ravi Bishnoi 1 (3b)

OUT! Hardik has to go. He goes for the uppercut and that’s straight to the third man fielder. Nehal Wadhera is greeted with a peach of a yorker by Mohsin Khan. A couple of singles to end the over. The required run rate shoots up to 16.0. Time for a Strategic Timeout!

Bishnoi again. Goes wide outside off again and Hardik gets a bottom edge that trickles to short third. FOUR! In the slot outside off and Hardik sends that crashing through cover for his first boundary. Turning into him and Hardik places this in the gap through midwicket and collects a couple of runs. SIX! That’s lofted over mid-off and the ball sails over the boundary for a maximum. That hit has also damaged the advertisement hoarding for the Tata Punch EV car. 

Krunal to Hardik. Short and wide and Hardik slaps this to long-off for a single. One more for Kishan next ball and that’s 100 up for Mumbai in 11.3 overs. Leading edge and Hardik also handed a return catch back to his brother. Tucked off the waist for a single by Hardik to end the over. 

Bishnoi again. FOUR! Long hop and Rohit gets low to slog sweep and finds the boundary, bissecting the gap between long-on and deep midwicket. OUT! Rohit goes. Bishnoi goes invitingly wide outside off-stump and Rohit gets a thick outside edge to the short third-man fielder. Hardik Pandya is off the mark with a single through point.

Krunal Pandya in place of Bishnoi. Krunal to Suryakumar, OUT! Brilliantly hit, plays a crisp sweep but the ball goes straight to Ravi Bishnoi at deep backward square. Huge blow for MI as SKY departs with a no score.

Naveen-ul-Haq continues. Naveen to Brevis, FOUR! Brevis squeezes the yorker for a boundary behind point. Naveen to Brevis, SIX! Wowza! This guy has some power. Full, in the middle and the ball travelled far. Naveen to Brevis, OUT! He tried to go over long-off but a mishit goes straight to Krunal Pandya. MI loses its first wicket.

In comes Suryakumar at No. 3. He fails to get off the mark and plays out two dot deliveries to end this over. 

Ravi Bishnoi is in the attack. Where Brevis is not able to middle the ball Rohit is looking as fine as he can get. A cover drive for a FOUR before he slog sweeps to hit another boundary this time t fine-leg. He reaches his 60s now. 

Mohsin Khan continues. Mohsin to Rohit, FOUR! Poor fielding by the boundary rider this time who let the ball go for a boundary. Mohsin to Rohit, FOUR! This is clever batting. Rohit gets the room and he cuts it to hit another boundary. Mohsin to Rohit, SIX! Even better, down the ground for a maximum which takes Rohit past fifty! A brilliant half-century for MI’s former captain. 

Rohit has taken the charge here. He has hit Mohsin Khan and Naveen-ul-Haq for four boundaries to reach 39 by the end of PowerPlay. MI crossed 50-mark as well. 

Pandya ends the over with a dot ball. 

Rohit and Brevis are walking out again. We are moments away from the restart. 

Krunal Pandya comes into the attack for Henry. Two singles in the first three deliveries. Krunal to Brevis, SIX! This has gone to the second tier! He picked the length, moved along with the line of the ball and dispatched it with a pull. 

Wow, the rain gods have arrived in Mumbai as the players are running back. The covers are being placed and we might have to wait a little for the live action.

Arshad follows it up with a top over, gives just two singles and a wide from it. 

Matt Henry from the other end. Henry to Rohit, SIX! Classic Rohit pulls off the front foot. He picked the short ball well in advance and racked it over midwicket for a maximum. SIX MORE! This time over long-off! Glorious shot to get 12 off the last two deliveries. 14 off this over. 

Arshad Khan to start for LSG with the new ball. Arshad to Rohit, FOUR! Rohit tries to flick the short ball towards midwicket but an edge fetches him boundary behind point. 8 off the first over. 

Shepherd to bowl the final over. Badoni shuffles across and swings this for a single on the on-side. Wide down leg-side, Kishan doesn’t collect it cleanly, and the batters will also sneak a bye. SIX! Wide outside off, and Badoni shuffles across and reaches out and makes a good connection to clear the cover-point boundary. SIX! Similar delivery, and a similar responside by Badoni, except that this time he chose to go over the extra-cover region. FOUR! One-bounce and to the boundary for Badoni, who clears his front leg and almost sweeps this to the midwicket fence. This is in the blockhole going across Badoni and not given wide. Badoni reviews but the third umpire says it’s a fair delivery. 

Two dot balls to end the over and the innings. 

Here comes Thushara. On a hat-trick. Badoni clubs this to mid-on and scampers for a single. Slower one outside off, Krunal shuffles across and misses trying to heave this on leg-side. FOUR! Slow bouncer now, and Krunal lines it up and hooks this to the fine-leg boundary. Full toss outside off and Krunal cut away to deep third for a single by Krunal. Whipped off the pads by Badoni, and he completes a tight second run. One more for Krunal to end the over. 

Chawla is back. OUT! Team hat-trick for MI. Rahul goes for a sweep, but only manages a top edge, which is taken at short fine-leg. SIX! Krunal Pandya is off the mark with a six down the ground first ball. He then proceeds to block the next one, proper Test match style! Krunal steps out next ball and then blocks again. Cut behind point off the fifth ball for a single by Krunal. Another single to end the over. 

Thushara comes back after bowling two good overs. In the blockhole outside off first ball and Pooran pats it back to the bowler. Yorker outside off again and Pooran swings across the line but only gets an inside edge to square-leg for another dot ball. 

FOUR! Swings across the line again, not much timing, but the ball still trickles away to the square-leg boundary. FOUR! This is slashed over cover by Pooran for another boundary. That’s 7000 runs for Pooran in all T20s. OUT! Pooran shuffles across, picks this up from wide outside off and is caught at long-on trying to clear the fence. OUT! Arshad Khan comes in and goes out, for a golden duck. Slower one, and he ends up slicing it high in the air. 

Here comes Shepherd into the attack. FOUR! Full toss and heaved away through midwicket by Rahul and he finds the boundary. That’s a fifty for Rahul, off 37 balls. FOUR! Low full toss just outside off and Rahul wristily cuts this to the point boundary. 

Excellent stop by Rohit at point as Shepherd delivers yet another full toss. The crowd finally has something to cheer. 

Tendulkar pulls out of his run-up as he runs in; he seems to have pulled a muscle. SIX! Full toss drifting on leg-side and Pooran flicks this for a maximum over square-leg. SIX! Full toss again and another six, and that brings up Pooran’s fifty off 19 balls. Meanwhile, Tendulkar has walked off the field without completing his over, mostly due to cramps. 

Naman Dhir will bowl the rest of the four deliveries. SIX! The treatment is the same. Slog sweep and Pooran clears the midwicket boundary with ease. Three in a row! FOUR! Full outside off and this is drilled over cover for a boundary. Finally a breather for the bowler as this full one outside off is put away for just a single by Pooran off the edge. SIX! Rahul joins the party as he steps out and clears deep midwicket. Four sixes and that’s a 29-run over for LSG! 

Hardik continues and Pooran takes a took on the skipper with two sixes. First, he clears his front leg and fetches one from wide outside off, and then shuffles slightly across his stumps and flicks one off his legs for a second six. Fifteen runs from this over. 

Kamboj again. FOUR! Pooran shuffles across the stumps, and gets an inside edge to the fine-leg boundary as he swings his bat on the on-side. FOUR! Full and very wide outside off and Pooran slices this to the boundary behind point. SIX! Similar delivery and Pooran carves this over cover for a maximum. SIX! Kamboj errs again, this time a full toss, and slashed flat and hard by Pooran for another six over deep cover-point. Huge over, 22 runs from it. 

Hardik Pandya finally comes into the attack. Starts off with a slower and full one on off-stump and that’s glided to deep cover by Rahul for a couple. Two more for Rahul next ball. Crisply driven through cover by Rahul but a fantastic save by Shepherd in the deep keeps it down to another couple. FOUR! A loose full toss on the pads and that’s put away to the fine-leg boundary by Rahul. 

Kamboj comes back for his second over. He misses his lines and darts in three wides in a row. SIX! Slightly short and Pooran pounces on it with a pull, and the ball goes sailing over deep midwicket for a maximum. A single down the ground by Rahul to end the over. 

Guess what, no changes in the attack. We still have Chawla continuing from his end. Chawla to Hooda, OUT! The leading edge goes straight to Nehal Wadhera who picked a brilliant catch in the air, however, he does not seem okay after landing awkwardly. Hooda departs after scoring 11 off nine.

Piyush Chawla continues. Rahul and Hooda managed six singles from this over. 

Interesting! Nehal Wadhera comes from the other end. In comes Deepak Hooda at number four. Just three singles from the first five deliveries. Wadhera to Hooda, FOUR! Inside-out hit from Hooda which goes very near to the cover fielder, fetching a welcome but risky boundary for the visitors to end the over on high.

A wide call was overturned after MI reviewed it. Suryakumar Yadav gets bullseye with a direct hit at the non-striker’s end but Stoinis made his home comfortably in the last delivery. A decent recovery from Arjun who leaks only three singles off the last five deliveries. 

Here comes Anshul Kamboj. FOUR! Full and shovelled away to the midwicket boundary by Stoinis. FOUR! Full on off-stump now and Stoinis lifts this over the bowler’s head for another boundary. FOUR! Shorter, in the slot and Stoinis spanks this over mid-on for a hat-trick of boundaries. Lifted over mid-on to long-on for a single off the last ball by Stoinis. 

Thushara stays in the attack. A single to start the over. Thushara to Stoinis, FOUR! Thushara followed it up with a slower delivery and Stoinis was quick to pounce on it, hitting with a straight bat over the bowler’s head for a boundary. Two dots before two singles to end the over with seven coming off it. 

Arjun Tendulkar is in the attack from the other end. Arjun to Stoinis, OUT! Arjun keeps the length short and gets the ball in for the right-hander, Stoinis was tempted to play off the backfoot but misses it. Only the height can save the on-filed decision now. Stoinis goes for a quick review and yes, it was indeed missing stumps due to the extra bounce -- DECISION OVERTUNRED TO NOT OUT! Arjun starts with four dots. Just three off his first over. 

Nuwan starts with a yorker, shaping out for Rahul, who defends it with utmost care. a single will open the account for the LSG skipper on the second delivery. Devdutt gets the strike now. Thushara to Padikkal, OUT! The slingly action is not everyone’s cup of tea! Thushara keeps on the middle, gets slight movement and hits directly in the pads, trapping the batter in front.
