Jos Buttler, POTM:  Was a special knock, enjoyed it. I love this stadium, it was a fantastic atmosphere, my first IPL was here with the Mumbai Indians. I am enjoying the best form of my life, I need to continue with this form all the way through. The ball swung in the first over and it was a bit tricky. You need to soak up that pressure and come through it. Once you get through it, the confidence comes back. Devdutt played well from the other end, and we decided to attack and put the pressure back on Delhi. The wickets may change, there are going to be used wickets. There wasn't any dew tonight, the teams might favour batting first. Everyone will need to adapt as the tournament goes on.

Sanju Samson, RR captain:  It was a full toss and the batsman wanted a no-ball, but the umpire didn't give it. We wanted to be around him and wanted to put a smile on his face. Not easy for a bowler after conceding three sixes. We wanted to change the plan so we took our time, to give the bowler a breather. The last game was a tough one, and this game too, with Powell hitting those sixes. It's important to stay calm and trust your team mates. You need to back yourself. Can't say anything about the toss. Losing toss is working, so we'll like to stick to that. Don't think there was much dew, but the bowlers are experienced enough to bowl in these conditions. Ashwin and Chahal have been bowling well, touch wood we continue to do it. It is normal to drop catches, even I dropped one in the last match. I told the players how to recover from that in the team meeting. He has been playing well, and that's a crucial part in this format. DDP is a smart cricketer and there's a lot more to come from him.

Rishabh Pant, DC captain:  I think they were bowling well throughout the game but in the end Powell gave us a chance, I thought that no-ball could have been precious for us but it is not in my control. Yes, disappointed but can't do much about it. Everyone was frustrated (in the dugout) that it was not even close, everyone in the ground saw that, I think the third umpire should have interfered and said it was a no-ball. Obviously it wasn't right (sending Amre onto the field) but what happened with us is also not right, it happened in the heat of the moment. It was the fault from both sides and it is disappointing as we have seen some good umpiring in the tournament. It is disappointing to go so close especially when the other team has scored 200+. I think we could have bowled much better. I can tell the guys to keep their chin up and prepare for the next one.

R Ashwin:  The last over was topsy-turvy. I was just keeping my fingers crossed. Devdutt was standing at point and asking me, 'It's not happening right?' and I said, 'No, I hope it's not happening.' I think that break when the [Capitals] coach came in and the whole thing happened, I think that sort of settled our nerves. It's never easy to bowl the last over. I thought Obed did a fantastic job. He's a young guy. Even though he looks big, he's a very very young guy and I thought he held his nerve wonderfully. It was a good comeback, the last three balls. We keep working on the analysis, but I thought the fourth, fifth and sixth balls were fantastic.

The drama in this league just continues to hit new scales everyday. The Royals have played flawlessly to set-up another win and it was once again led by the unstoppable Jos Buttler. Buttler has set the base for what could be an unprecedented season with his fourth IPL ton in his last eight matches. However, the sluggish drama in the final over of Delhi's chase has slightly taken the sheen off a stupendous outing for the men in Pink.

DC 207/8 in 20 overs: Powell crunches the first ball for SIX down the ground. Length on offer and Powell's not missing that one. Two in Two! Full and wide from McCoy but the result stays the same as Powell waltzes the ball over cover for SIX. 24 needed from four. 6, 6, 6 - Powell's hammered another one! High full-toss and Powell simply dismisses it from his presence for SIX. That seems on the waist line but the umpire has not called a no-ball. Hold on, these are bizarre scenes.  Kuldeep and Rovman frantically ask for a no-ball and there seems to be certain gestures from skipper Pant in the dugout. Wait, are they leaving the field? Powell and Kuldeep briefly walk back to the dugout before the umpires intervene. Delhi's assistant coach Pravin Amre walks out to the field to have a chat with the umpires. Buttler seems to have an exchange of words with Pant as well. All hell's breaking loose!

Anyway back to cricket after a halt. Powell misses a slower one from McCoy and that must be it. Powell miscues the final ball and Samson takes an excellent catch to seal the game. Rajasthan beats Delhi by 15 runs to top the points table!

Kuldeep swivels across as Prasidh fires one over the middle-stump to Samson. A cracking yorker from Prasidh who almost single-handedly seals the fate of the game in this over with five dots. Wicket-maiden for Prasidh as Kuldeep fails to open his account.

DC 187/6 in 18 overs: Boult keeps the batters under check, a couple of singles and a wide to start off. Powell finally finds smokes a shorter delivery from Boult over mid-wicket for SIX! He's coming back for the second and Samson's caught him short of the crease. A bullet through from Parag in the crease is complemented by a fine effort from the skipper and Thakur's stay is curtailed to send Delhi further down the barrel. Rovman Powell in at 8.  Boult sends in a low full-toss and Lalit paddles it fine for FOUR.

Rishabh Pant c Padikkal b Prasidh Krishna 44 (24b 4x4 2x6)

Delhi needs 102 runs in 54 balls. Prasidh returns.

DC 121/3 in 11 overs: Pant greets Parag with a huge tonk over mid-wicket for SIX! A couple of singles follow. Parag goes for the slingy delivery and Pant waltzes it over long-on with a one-handed special for SIX. Riyan Parag into the attack

DC 99/3 in 10 overs: Ashwin continues his maneuver his lengths. Shaw and Pant negotiate in singles. Shaw holes out to deep extra cover! Boult makes no mistake as the fence as Shaw fails in his attempt to make room off Ashwin to go inside-out. Right when Shaw and Pant seemed to step on the gas, the Royals have sneaked through.

Prithvi Shaw c Boult b Ashwin 37 (27b 5x4 1x6)

DC 95/2 in 9 overs: McCoy offers width for the pull and Shaw obliges with a fierce stroke to the cow corner boundary. McCoy attempts a slower ball and Shaw elegantly lofts the ball over deep cover for a one-handed SIX! Misery for McCoy. The attempted slower-ball slips off his hands and well past Samson for FOUR and it's a no-ball.  Two wides to follow and the free-hit continues. McCoy strays to the pads and Pant slides it down leg for FOUR. McCoy all over the place now.  In the air and Hetmyer's desperate dive is not enough! Pant mistimes a slog over long-on as the ball drops through Hetmyer's hands for FOUR. 26 runs come off the over!

McCoy returns

DC 69/2 in 8 overs: Ashwin skims through the over. Shaw and Pant attempt aggressive strokes but fails to thread the fence

Sharp in-decker from Prasidh and Warner could not bail out of that one.  Sarfaraz Khan in at 3. He gets off the mark with a single. Flourishing end to the over for Delhi as Shaw launches another straight drive for FOUR.

David Warner c †Samson b Prasidh Krishna 28 (14b 5x4 1x6)

DC 35/0 in 4 overs: McCoy pumps one short and Shaw swivels across to pull the ball through mid-wicket for FOUR. Shaw blasts another ball down the ground but fails to beat Buttler at mid-off. Jos nearly takes out Warner at the non-striker's who steps outside his crease for a single. McCoy offers a loosener to Warner and he slices the ball over backward point for FOUR.

Obed McCoy into the attack

DC 25/0 in 3 overs: Boult fires in a tight bouncer and Warner fails to slice the ball over point. Marginally tailing in to the pads and Warner easily glides the ball past short fine leg for FOUR. Boult shapes the ball away and Warner has a hard slash at it. The ball sails off the outside-edge over short third for SIX.

DC 14/0 in 2 overs: Prasidh goes full and wide and Warner nonchalantly lofts the ball over mid-off for FOUR. Similar lengths and Warner fails to cut open the off-side field. Shardul for the final over. Samson on strike.

RR 202/2 in 19 overs: Fizz attempts to find the blockhole and gets swatted through square leg for FOUR by Buttler instead. My, my, look at those wrists at work. Rovman Powell puts in an excellent full-length dive to deny a boundary there.  Full toss and Buttler holes out to Warner at long-on. Inexplicable in so many ways.

Shardul Thakur from the opposite end

In the air and over short third! Buttler is squared up with another shorter delivery that sticks on the wicket for a moment. Buttler pauses for a pull but gets the top-edge over the fielder for FOUR. 19:12PM IST: Kul or Cha? Who will emerge successful tonight?

Kuldeep Yadav in IPL 2019-2021: 14 matches, five wickets.

Kuldeep Yadav in IPL 2022 so far: 13 wickets from five matches. Here's a read on the chinaman's sensational return to form:

TOSS: Delhi Capitals wins the toss and opts to bowl first.

Rishabh Pant:  We will bowl first. Told the boys not to focus on the outside and keep backing each other. We are gonna be talking about the same thing, end of the day we are looking to improve as a team. We are  playing the same team.  Anything around 150-160 would be good.

Sanju Samson:  I don't mind, was ready for both. Toss is not in my hand, actually getting out of my hand. Both batters and bowlers have to be ready for both situations and we are happy to do it. We are playing great standard of cricket. All about carrying the momentum. And then move on. No changes.

TOSS TIME... Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant are at the centre.

Prithvi Shaw to the broadcaster: Everything is okay. Obviously a lot of hectic things are going on in the rooms and in the hotels itself, everything is fine now. Ricky is not coming but he did message us on how we are going to approach this game and all this Covid stuff is going in your head, you're mentally prepared for it (the game) and to focus on the onfield stuff. He's (Ponting) the boss of the team and when the boss is not here you can feel a bit different. But we have other coaches here and they understand these things, we will be fine playing under them. It all depends on my mood before the match day, if I want to have a hit or not. When I am scoring runs I don't really like to bat and don't want to get worse in the nets. The boss is watching from the hotel room and I hope we don't disappoint him.

MATCH PREVIEW

Rajasthan Royals has proven that it possibly has the most versatile bowling attack in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. Delhi Capitals, in its last outing, gave a glimpse of how its opening partnership can turn out to be a game-changer for the team.

The mini-battle between the Royals quartet of Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, R. Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal versus the Capitals openers David Warner and Prithvi Shaw could prove to be the decisive factor when both the teams square off against each at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday. Not to forget the sublime form of Royals batter Jos Buttler who has registered two centuries in this season.

Due to the COVID-19 cases in the Capitals camp over the last week, the game moved to Mumbai from Pune. And the Capitals will be keen on carrying the momentum it gained from mauling Punjab Kings on Wednesday.

The Royals will expect Ashwin to showcase his artistry against left-handed batters by restricting Warner, especially in the powerplay. Boult will be the biggest threat for Shaw, with the Kiwi having dismissed the Indian batter thrice in five innings in the T20s.

The Capitals will be hoping for its spin twins to contain Buttler and Co. If the England batter digs deep yet again, he will make the job of the fancied bowling line-up much easier.
