KXIP 132 after 16.5 overs: Cottrell castled! Natarajan takes his first wicket of the night. That was bowled right at the blockhole. Arshdeep takes the walk three balls later, for a duck, and it is all over for Punjab. SRH beats KXIP by 69 runs.
KXIP 126/8 after 15 overs: Rashid to bowl out. Warner would be hoping the Afghan gets rid of Pooran this over itself. And it happens! IT HAPPENS! Three dots followed by one laced with some extra bounce and well, it does the job. The Trinidadian has sliced this one straight to Natarajan at backward point. Shami walks out as soon as he walks in, trapped right in front - a golden duck! Two-wicket maiden for Rashid and he will be on a hattrick when he walks in to bowl in SRH's next fixture on Sunday against Rajasthan Royals.
KXIP 126/6 after 14 overs: Khaleel has been hit for two consecutive boundaries and it is Nicholas Pooran, who has been busy rebuilding the Punjab chase all by himself. A weird dismissal follows! SRH appeals for a caught behind for Mujeeb. The umpires soft signal it not out but go upstairs to check for a bump ball. The third umpire reverses the on-field umpire's decision to signal it out without eve referring to the ultraedge. Mujeeb starts to walk but gets signalled by the dugout to go for a review. The umpires go upstairs again to refer to the ultraedge and turns out there is a significant spike on the line. OUT it is! Time for the strategic timeout.
KXIP 117/5 after 13 overs: Ball of the tournament, anyone? Rashid spins a web around Mandeep, who's been outfoxed by the turn on that googly. It was a tad bit faster as well - 88.7 kmph. Mujeeb is the new man in.
KXIP 112/4 after 12 overs: The pressure's back on the batting team and it shows. Not only is nobody going after the bowler, but there is some fumble as well, while attempting to take a run or two between the wickets. Hyderabad's fielders have, however, been spot on tonight.
KXIP 105/4 after 11 overs: Natarajan has dropped Maxwell off his own bowling. He was still in his follow-through when Maxwell pushed it straight back at him. The pacer gets his fingers onto it but wasn't able to hold on. Later, Pooran gets some bat on a delivery straying down the leg side to steal a boundary. Maxwell, however, doesn't get to survive the over, dismissed by a direct hit from Garg. He was miles out of the line on that occasion. Brilliant work in the field!
KXIP 96/3 after 10 overs: Rashid's back to apply the brakes on the Punjab innings. Pretty much an uneventful over with only five coming off it.
KXIP 91/3 after 9 overs: 50 OFF 17 DELIVERIES! This is Nicholas Pooran's first IPL fifty and he brings it about in some style. It also happens to be the tournament's fastest-ever fifty. Samad's previous over's timeline reads: 6 4 6 6 6 0. My, oh, my! Time for a strategic timeout. Not a surprise, one would say.
KXIP 63/3 after 8 overs: Rashid Khan has been brought in. What can he offer here? Just two runs off it. The batsmen cannot afford to take any unnecessary risks, especially at this stage and against one of the most dangerous bowlers in world cricket.
KXIP 61/3 after 7 overs: Pooran welcomes Abhishek with a maximum straight over the bowler's head - 89 metres. Goes again the next delivery. Same zone. Same shot. To the same effect. This time it is bigger. 94 metres! But Abhishek does the bigger damage later on. He gets the big man KL Rahul walking. Rahul sweeps it straight to Kane Williamson at backward square leg.
KXIP 45/2 after 6 overs: Natarajan's back - Warner's operating with left-arm seam from both ends. Pooran, however, gets his timing right to dispatch the third delivery out of the park with a stylish, wristy flick! Glorious, glorious shot. No backlift, no movement of the feet but look at how it all panned out.
KXIP 37/2 after 5 overs: An excellent catch by Garg at cover point ends Prabhsimran's brief stay on the patch. It was hit hard but the fielder was pretty alert. Khaleel gets his first wicket. Pooran walks in and slams Khaleel for a delightful four through covers off the very first delivery he faces.
KXIP 27/1 after 4 overs: T Natarajan is into the attack. Prabhsimran Singh tees off with a boundary. And that too a helicopter flick! Yuvraj Singh has been working on this youngster and it shows.
KXIP 20/1 after 3 overs: Sandeep Sharma has been Sunrisers' all-time best bowler when it comes to matches against Punjab. This over was all about the same - only six runs off it as the bowler keeps it pretty tight.
KXIP 14/1 after 2 overs: Yes... no... maybe... And gone! A brief moment of hesitation from skipper KL Rahul has cost Punjab the wicket of Mayank Agarwal. Praises must be sung of Warner who pulled off an athletic save at mid-off before throwing it to the bowler's end.
KXIP 9/0 after 1 over: The most destructive opening pair this IPL have walked out onto the middle. KL Rahul will face Sandeep Sharma with Mayank Agarwal at the non-striker's end. There is a hint of movement on the ball and Mayank, for a moment, looked as good as gone off the second delivery. It hung in the skies for quite some time before landing a few yards ahead of the onrushing pair of Warner and Abhishek straight down the field. Mayank, however, quickly restored momentum with a wonderful shot through the covers for a four.
KXIP INNINGS Kings XI Punjab needs 202 to win. SRH 201/6 after 20 overs: Shami's yorker goes wrong and BAM! Williamson goes over extra cover. FOUR. The very next ball, he takes the aerial route and it disappears. SIX. The applauses in the SRH dugout die out after Abhishek miscues one to a diving Maxwell, running in from deep midwicket.
SRH 187/5 after 19 overs: "Cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties," they say. The statement couldn't be more correct. We are witnessing an epic turnaround here from the Kings. Pooran doesn't put the opportunity down this time and Priyam Garg has been dismissed for a duck. Abhishek Sharma, who has just walked in, has teed off, meanwhile, with a brilliant maximum and then a cracking four. SRH 175/4 after 18 overs: Having pulled off one of the best fielding efforts of the tournament, thus far, a few days ago, you wouldn't expect Nicholas Pooran to let go off opportunities like that. Abdul Samad heaves a sigh of relief, more so because the ball has rolled right on to the boundary. But Arshdeep, at deep square leg, doesn't let a freebie go out of hand again, four balls later, as Samad walks. Williamson walks in.
SRH 165/3 after 17 overs: And Manish Pandey follows the openers back into the dugout in no time, nudging one right back to the bowler Arshdeep Singh. This is as easy as it gets... What a comeback this is turning out to be for Punjab!
SRH 161/2 after 16 overs: A googly from Bishnoi tricks Warner into skying it really high. Maxwell, who has one of the safest pairs of hands in the Kings XI dugout, gets underneath and he wouldn't miss sitters like these for anything. And in the same over, the youngster has gotten rid of Bairstow, trapping him plumb in front! Can KXIP apply the brakes hereon?
SRH 160/0 after 15 overs: Cottrell bounces right back with a good over - just six off it. However, a look at his overall figures [3-0-33-0] would reveal how the night has turned out to be for the Punjab bowlers. Time for the strategic timeout.
SRH 154/0 after 14 overs: An over of records and milestones galore for Warner! Not only does the Australian reach his 46th IPL fifty, but with that he also reaches the 9500-run mark in T20s. This also happens to be his 9th fifty in a row against Kings XI Punjab.
SRH 138/0 after 13 overs: Shami gets punished for an erratic low full toss by Bairstow for a four towards the mid-off boundary. Except for that, it turns out to be quite the decent over - only eight off it. SRH 130/0 after 12 overs: Arshdeep sprays one down leg to concede a wide even as the batters run an extra. Things get worse as Arshdeep ends up bowling a no ball and gifting a free hit to Bairstow. The Englishman, however, manages to run only a single off it.
SRH 120/0 after 11 overs: Bairstow's on fire... 4, 6, 6 - and each time it gets bigger and better! The last maximum cleared the sightscreen and was 90-metres-long! There was a call for a catch but wonder who it was meant for. There is nothing that Maxwell has done which has seemed to worry the 31-year-old.
SRH 100/0 after 10 overs: Arshdeep Singh will be bowling his first over. Bairstow decides to get to his fifth IPL fifty - third in this edition - in style, with a six straight down the ground but he couldn't middle it well and it lands just within the ropes. Nonetheless, he gets his half-century by running a double. A run off the last delivery also brings up the fifth century stand for the openers.
SRH 93/0 after 9 overs: A cracking six that, from Warner as he lifts it over the bowler's head. The openers have cut loose. Who will KL Rahul go to next?
SRH 82/0 after 8 overs: Bairstow goes downtown! He dances down the track and gets it straight and long down the ground. The pressure gets to Bishnoi, who goes wide of off stump in the next delivery and Bairstow punishes him again. The misery is however far from over for Punjab as the last ball has also been smoked for a huge SIX over deep square leg.
SRH 64/0 after 7 overs: Can Glenn Maxwell's right arm off-spin provide Kings XI the much needed breakthrough? Warner and Bairstow don't go after him and just concentrate on running the singles and doubles.
SRH 58/0 after 6 overs: Punjab has opted to go for the strategic timeout right at the end of the PowerPlay. Bairstow and Warner run three off Mujeeb's first ball this over to bring up their 1000-runs partnership in this league. This is also Hyderabad's highest PowerPlay score in IPL 2020.
SRH 52/0 after 5 overs: The carnage continues this over after KL Rahul drops Bairstow on 19. It was a difficult one and he just managed to get his fingers to it - the KXIP skipper running in and diving for it at mid-off. Two back-to-back boundaries follow to make it 11 off the fifth.
SRH 41/0 after 4 overs: Cottrell starts off with a wide. He is feeling the heat, alright. It gets bad to worse after Bairstow takes him for a ride, hitting him for three boundaries. The Yorkshire batsman will be, however, relieved that the ball just flies over a leaping Ravi Bishnoi at short fine leg.
SRH 26/0 after 3 overs: Mohammad Shami comes into the attack. Warner pulls a short ball from Shami over mid-wicket for a boundary. Sunrisers are off to a confident start.
SRH 19/0 after 2 overs: Mujeeb is bowling his first over in IPL 2020. This might turn out to be an interesting contest: Warner - Bairstow vs the Afghan. The England wicketkeeper-batsman nudges one through the covers for a boundary but Mujeeb comes back well to keep it down to six runs off the over.
SRH 13/0 after 1 over: A brief pep talk from KL Rahul and off they sprint as David Warner and Jonny Bairstow come out to bat for Hyderabad. Sheldon Cottrell will be starting the proceedings with the new ball, with the Aussie on strike. 5 wides gets Hyderabad's scoreboard ticking. Simran Singh, who is donning the wicketkeeping gloves today, leaps for it but misses. After Warner survives a close call, he clears the infield to hammer the first four. Later follows it up with another fine boundary as well. SRH INNINGS
WHAT THEY SAID KL Rahul, KXIP skipper: I was hoping I'd lose the toss but I would have wanted to bat first too. We've just not been able to close games with bat or ball. We've started well, but not closed down things. Bowlers haven't executed their plans but we know that can happen. Guys know that we've made mistakes and everyone is keen to come back stronger. Three changes - Prabhsimran, Arshdeep and Mujeeb come in for Jordan, Brar and Sarfaraz. David Warner, SRH captain: We'll have a bat. Last game while chasing, we lost a lot of wickets in the middle. The build-up
Kings XI has been unlucky in its first two losses; one being in the Super Over against Delhi Capitals, followed by a miraculous run chase of 227 by Rajasthan Royals — the highest ever in the Indian Premier League. But it got completely outplayed by Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings last week.
David Warner’s side joined the party after two early losses. It bounced back against Delhi, then it beat Chennai but found itself gagged against a strong Mumbai.

Besides Mohammed Shami, no other bowler has been consistent for Kings XI, especially at death. Sheldon Cottrell delivered in bits and pieces but the left-armer has been wicketless in his last three appearances. T20 specialist Chris Jordan did not cause much damage either.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s hip injury ruled him out of the tournament; Sunrisers roped in Prithvi Raj Yarra as his replacement but it remains to be seen if the Andhra pacer is included in the playing XI with seasoned campaigners Sandeep Sharma and Siddarth Kaul around.
But if Khaleel Ahmed isn’t fit, Prithvi Raj — who has played two IPL games for Kolkata Knight Riders in the past — may just sneak in.
There is a buzz that Kings XI may include hard-hitter Chris Gayle and finger-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman to bolster the combination. And in that case, Glenn Maxwell — who hasn’t fired yet — may have to sit out. Jordan can make way for Mujeeb, while the team management can also consider Ishan Porel as the second seamer.
The key men
Kings XI has scored more than 60 per cent of its runs from the opening combination. K.L. Rahul (302 runs) and Mayank Agarwal (272 runs) have been batting fearlessly from the start, and it will be a battle between the Kings XI openers and the Sunrisers bowling attack.

It will be also interesting to gauge Warner’s approach against a fiery Shami upfront. But Sunrisers’ middle-order is a cause for concern.
