The pre-eminent fast bowler of the current era has been beset with injuries of late. His latest phase of play - against India in the recently concluded Test series - was curtailed due to injury yet again. In Twenty20s, he may not be as lethal as in the longest form of the game, but his omission was admittedly a shock.
The Sri Lankan all-rounder can play a handy, attacking knock down the order and is a smart Twenty20 bowler as well, armed with slower balls, pace variations and all the rest of it. Twenty20 is the format he seems most potent in, yet he was not bought by any franchise in the IPL auction.
The left-hander has shone with the bat in the recent Ashes series. He was the holder of the orange cap - given to those with most runs in an IPL season - in 2008. Despite his credentials, Marsh went unsold.
The New Zealand opener has the penchant for attacking knocks, as he displayed in his swashbuckling double-century in the World Cup in 2015 and on various other occasions. However, no franchise saw the value that would compel it to bid for him.
