A minor fire broke out in the press box of the Eden Gardens prior to the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab on Thursday.
The Fire brigade personnel reacted quickly after noticing smoke emanating from the A. C. units, and swiftly swung into action to control the fire and prevent any damage to life and property.
Fire broke out from the two outdoor units of the air-conditioners installed on the right side of the press box on the third tier of the stadium. The fire brigade unit evacuated spectators sitting right below the air-conditioning units before controlling the fire with the help of fire extinguisher.
