Sanju V. Samson, who was bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 4.2 crore, expressed happiness at the outcome of the IPL auction. Sanju, whose base price was Rs. 2 crore, was bagged by the Delhi side after warding off an aggressive bid from Gujarat Lions.
Speaking to the media soon after the news broke out, a visibly happy Sanju said he was delighted to be picked by the Delhi team. But the former Kerala captain said it will be with a mixed feeling that he will be taking up the new assignment as he felt sad that Rajasthan Royals, with whom he made a mark in the IPL, was no longer in the tournament.
However, the 21-year-old wicket-keeper batsman said he was keenly looking forward to his new stint with Delhi Daredevils. “I am very happy that teams have shown interest in me. I am looking forward to the new challenge and I will be training hard to be in good shape before the tournament begins,” said Sanju, who stepped down as Kerala captain following a slump in form in the Ranji Trophy this season.
