Robin Singh has worked closely with pace great Lasith Malinga over a number of years at Mumbai Indians.
With the game-changing slinger figuring in his last match for Sri Lanka, Robin said, “He understands his game, works hard. Bowls off a full run-up even in practice. Mastered the art of yorker by getting his release point right.”

Robin observed, “Malinga is so difficult to pick even from behind the stumps when you stand. You try to catch the ball’s path, you see the ball actually going up like a saucer after it hits the wicket. And when it loses that momentum, it dips on you.”
After his pace dropped Malinga mixed cutters and slower deliveries with yorkers. Robin said, “Your skills don’t go, you make adjustments.”
Robin noted the presence of Malinga in the MI camp made a huge difference to Jasprit Bumrah. “Pretty unique himself, Bumrah tapped into Malinga’s mind-set.”
Malinga was a very “quiet person,” Robin revealed. “He likes his own space.”
