Perfect 10 for Assam's Arpan Dutta

Left-arm orthodox bowler Arpan Dutta took all 10 wickets in an innings in a senior inter-district cricket tournament organised by the Assam Cricket Association along with its affiliated members.

Assam's left-arm orthodox bowler Arpan Dutta scalped all 10 wickets in an innings to join an elite club of bowlers who have achieved the feat.

Playing for Sivasagar team in the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament against Charaideo district team Dutta organised by the Assam Cricket Association along with its affiliated members, Dutta rocked the opposition and returned with figures of 10 wickets for 48 runs in 19 overs.

Sivasagar scored 215 runs in 53.4 overs in the first innings after winning the toss and opting to bat. In reply, Charaideo was bundled out for 121 in 49 overs. with Dutta being the wrecker-in-chief.

In the second innings, Sivasagar faltered in trying to score fast and was all out for 110 runs in 34.2 overs.

The match was drawn, but Sivasagar earned points on the basis of its first-innings lead.

Expectedly, Dutta was declared the player of the match for his bowling performance.

10-wicket club

Laker was the first bowler to take 10 wickets in an innings in an international match. Against Australia at Old Trafford in 1956, the right-arm off-break bowler took nine for 37 runs in the first innings and 10 for 53 in the second in what became known as ‘Laker’s match.’

In 1999, Kumble emulated Laker when he took 10 wickets in the second innings against arch-rival Pakistan.

Mohanty, playing for East Zone, took 10 against a South Zone team that included Rahul Dravid and V. V. S. Laxman, bundling out the opposition for 113 runs.

Rex Rajkumar Singh, an 18-year-old left-arm Manipuri pacer, took 10 wickets against Arunachal Pradesh in a Cooch Behar Trophy match in Anantapur in 2018.
