The former India medium pacer has been roped in as the coach by Nangarhar franchise for the Afghanistan Premier League.

When the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) begins in the UAE from October 5, it will see former India pace ace, Venkatesh Prasad, donning the coach’s hat for the Nangarhar franchise.

The former India medium fast-bowler is the only Indian coach in the league so far. He will be joined by Lakshmi Narayanan, a performance analyst, who has worked with the Chennai Super Kings.

The teams will gather in the UAE from next week to gear up for the league.

The 49-year-old Prasad quit as the chairman of the national junior selection committee in March to take up the bowling coach job with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Kings XI Punjab.

Having served Indian national team as a coaching staff, this will be Prasad’s first-ever coaching stint in a global tournament. In the past, he has worked with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL.
