DC-W vs GG-W Highlights WPL 2024: Delhi beats Gujarat by seven wickets

Jemimah finishes in style as Delhi beats Gujarat by seven wickets.

A brilliant 71 off just 37 deliveries, and Shafali falls while attempting to find the game. 

Another boundary as Shafali drills Meghna over the covers for an excellent boundary, and then Jemimah flicks behind the square region for another boundary, and then scoops Meghna over the backward point boundary for the third boundary of the over-. It doesn’t stop there as she nails another boundary to make it 20 runs in the over.

Sahfali Verma hits the third fifty of the season, and Delhi is within touching distance of the total. A sensational innings as she tore apart the opposition and how good Jemimah has played.

A boundary over mid-on and then a brilliant six over the long-on takes Delhi closer to the target. Delhi is gunning the total., thanks to Shafali

Tanuja Kanwar is back into the attack, and a tough chance goes down as Shafali survives as Kanwar misses a caught and bowled chance. 

Mannat Kashyap into the attack and she does well as the left-arm spinner doesn’t concede a boundary, but Delhi needs just 63 runs in 72 balls. 

Shafali with a huge six over the long-on drives Delhi, and Gujarat needs wickets in cluster as another six over the long-off puts Delhi in a strong position.

Tanuja Kanwar continues with her left-arm spin, and Jemimah deals with a single down the ground, giving Shafali the strike. Jemimah then finds the gap through the covers to end the PowerPlay on a strong note. 

Meghna Singh into the attack as Jemimah Rodrigues walks in. Shafali, meanwhile, smokes the bowler straight down the ground for a maximum over the long-on region. 

Tanuja Kanwar into the attack and Lanning falls short of her crease due to poor communication. A risky single packs her off as Shafali declines the single. Capsey then falls as she hits straight to the fielder at mid-off without troubling the scorers. 

A six over long-on and then a neat flick behind the square gives Delhi the momentum in the run chase. The deep square fielder was brought up and Shafali with another flick drives Delhi. 

Kathryn Bryce into the attack and Lanning stays back in her crease and fetches two consecutive boundaries - the cut through the backward point region being the pick of the shot. A hat-trick of boundaries, and Delhi is up and running in this run chase. A fourth one to end the over.

Shabnam Shakil showcasing her skills with the ball as both Lanning and Shafali get off the mark. A tidy over to start in defence of 126. 

Another wicket as Shakil falls short of her crease, and nothing is working right for Gujarat. Meghna Singh gets a boundary over mid-on only to sacrifice her wicket with a single that wasn’t there. Bryce nails a boundary off the last ball, an excellent shot through the covers. 

Fulmali has paced her innings beautifully and has saved Gujarat from the blushes. However, Shikha Pandey breaks the 68-run partnership with a full delivery that castles the stumps. Fulmali departs for a 36-ball 42. A wonderful innings comes to an end, and Shikha picks up her second wicket by removing Tanuja Kanwar. 

The 100 is up, and Fulmali is playing a brilliant knock with a boundary to the extra cover boundary. Another boundary to the fine leg reg keeps Gujarat in the match.

Bryce survives an LBW review, and the ball was pitching outside off and was missing the stumps. A boundary off the final ball brings Gujarat closer to the 100-run mark. 

Jess Jonassen is back into the attack and delivers a brilliant over, giving just eight under pressure. Bryce and Fulmali have added 42 runs and will look to go big in the final three overs.

A much-needed boundary as Fulmani is making a statement, - first a late cut through the backward point region and then goes behind square. This is superb batting, and Delhi will have to make sure there are no leaks in the last 30 balls. 

Arundhati Reddy bowls a brilliant over and doesn’t concede a boundary. Just three runs from the over.

The slow left-arm spin of Radha Yadav is back into the attack and a misfield allows Bryce to fetch a boundary, and then Fulmani whacks the spinner over the covers for a boundary. 

Bharati Fulmali has a brilliant opportunity to make a statement and she does with a lovely boundary through the point. 

Litchfield fetches the first six of the evening as she dances down the track for a maximum. However. Minnu has her second wicket as Radha Yadav pouches a safe catch at mid-on. Gujarat is falling apart. 

Alice Capsey into the attack and this is great control from Delhi. They have chocked the opposition as Gujarat lacks the momentum. Wickets have fallen, and the runs aren’t coming.

Minnu Mani into the attack and the right-arm spinner hits the target straightaway as she castles Gardner who falls for the 12th time against spin. A good length delivery that spun a little bit, and Gardner pays the price of going on the backfoot and misses the ball. 

Arundhati Reddy plays a wonderful shot as she executes a neat flick through the mid-wicket and it was a glorious shot. A bit of arrest in the fall of wickets.

Radha Yadav into the attack and Gardner welcomes the left-arm, spinner with a boundary through the square leg. However, there isn’t much momentum, and Gujarat needs a partnership here. 

PowerPlay done and dusted and it’s Delhi who is calling the shots with three wickets and restricting the Gujarat batswomen in not playing their shots.

Gujarat falling apart quickly as the third wicket falls, and this time it is the huge wicket of Wolvaardt. Skipping down the track but not finding the distance as she hands a simple catch to Shafali at mid-off.

Jess Jonassen into the attack and she strikes as Hemalatha falls. A quicker delivery, and that was a poor execution as the ball evades the cut shot and knocks the off pole. 

Laura Wolvaardt and Dayalan Hemalatha have a job in their hands and they are doing it well by building a partnership. 

Wolvaardt drills Shikha Pandey through the covers, making room, and that’s a fine shot. Nevertheless, a brilliant over as just a boundary comes. 

Beth Mooney falls for a duck as Kapp strikes. Huge wicket as the in-form Mooney goes as she misses a flick and the leg-stump takes a beating.
