Manchester United’s potential new signing Casemiro might miss out on his new side’s high-profile Premier League clash against Liverpool on Monday.
Premier League clubs, by rule, have to finalise their transfers by noon on the previous working day to field the new player in the upcoming gameweek.
But according to Manchester United Evening News, for the Brazilian midfielder to play against Liverpool, Manchester United should have signed him by 12 PM BST (4.30 PM IST), which didn’t happen.
The Athletic has confirmed that Casemiro has had some issues with his visa and will miss out on the highly anticipated clash between Manchester United and Liverpool.
The earliest Manchester United can field the five-time Champions League-winning defensive midfielder is next Saturday against Southampton.
“Casemiro wants a new challenge and we understand his feeling, I do not think there is a way back,” Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti told a news conference on Friday.
“I have spoken with him. Casemiro, for what he has done and the person he is, we must respect that desire. The negotiations are ongoing right now, it is not official yet, he is still our player but his will is to leave.”
Manchester United has endured a horrid start to its Premier League campaign with two defeats, including a 4-0 loss to Brentford.
