FC Goa to begin pre-season campaign on September 12

After winning the Super Cup last season and coming within minutes of landing its first-ever Indian Super League (ISL) title, FC Goa will look to launch another successful campaign with pre-season games at home.

FC Goa coach Sergio Lobera will be looking to win the Indian Super League (ISL) title this time, after finishing runner-up last season.

Indian Super League (ISL) club FC Goa, for the first time, will have its pre-season campaign on home turf. The camp will begin in Goa on September 12.

The Gaurs won the Super Cup last season and they finished runner-up to Bengaluru FC in ISL, after losing in extra-time. Sergio Lobera’s men will be looking forward to do one better this season.

The two-time ISL finalist has retained majority of its squad with six foreign recruits re-signing with the team.

Ferran Corominas, after winning his second straight ISL Golden Boot Trophy, will aim to finish as the top scorer in the league for the third consecutive year. He will be joined by compatriots Edu Bedia and Carlos Peña. Hugo Boumous, Ahmed Jahouh and central defender Mourtada Fall will also continue with the team for another term.

FC Goa's director of football Ravi Puskur stressed on the need for continuity in the squad. He said: “We have opted for consistency in our squad selection after reaching the ISL final last time around. We hope that the same core group of players will perform well for us this season and expect that our new signings will bolster our push for a title win.”

Defenders : Mourtada Fall, Seriton Fernandes, Carlos Peña, Aibanbha Dohling, Chinglensana Singh, Mandar Rao Dessai, Amey Ranawade, Saviour Gama

Midfielders : Hugo Boumous, Ahmed Jahouh, Princeton Rebello, Lenny Rodrigues, Edu Bedia, Brandon Fernandes, Jackichand Singh

Forwards : Ferran Corominas, Seimenlen Doungel, Manvir Singh, Liston Colaco
