The Indian Super League 2022-23 season will be another chapter of the franchise league, which has become one of the breeding grounds of young talents in the game.
While Hormipam Ruivah and Akash Mishra were some of the stars to emerge last year, the upcoming season will see more stars in action, including I-League’s emerging player of the season, Jiteshwor Singh.
Ahead of the ninth season of ISL, here are the arrivals and departures in the eleven clubs so far.
ATK Mohun Bagan
ATK Mohun Bagan had a major shift in the coaching department last year when Antonio Lopez Habas left the club and Juan Ferrando took over.
The runner-up of the 2020-21 season, however, was one of the teams to begin transfer activity for the next season and roped in Paul Pogba’s brother Florentin Pogba as one of its midfield reinforcements.
While the Mariners ended their last campaign as a semifinalist, they look very strong on paper with a good mix of Indian and foreign players.

Bengaluru FC
Bengaluru FC had peaked late last season with an unbeaten streak of nine games, but fizzled eventually to lose out on a play-off spot. While Sunil Chhetri became the second-highest goal scorer in the history of the league, the team saw its manager Marco Pezzaiuoli leave the club with no silverware.
Under new manager Simon Grayson, the Blues will look to turn their fortune, specially with Javier Hernandez in their side - a player who had six goals and five assists last season with Odisha FC.

ChennaiyinFC
The two-time Indian Super League champion had a forgettable season last year, with just five wins from 20 matches, including a 5-0 loss to FC Goa. The Marina Machans have a new head coach this time with German Thomas Brdaric taking charge of the side ahead of the 2022-23 season.
The German has brought in some players to Chennaiyin, who he has worked with before, including Senegalese Fallou Diagne and will look to get the team back to winning terms sooner than later.

East Bengal
East Bengal finished the last season with a record one win throughout the previous season and conceded the second-highest number of goals (36) in 20 games. Not only did the team end up at the bottom of the table with 11 points, it suffered a double loss to arch rival ATK Mohun Bagan.
However, for the upcoming season, the team has signed Ivan Gonzalez who impressed with FC Goa as well as Mobashir Rahman, who won the League Winners Shield with Jamshedpur FC in the last campaign.

FC Goa
The Gaurs were embroiled in a mid-season mess when its head coach Juan Ferrando switched his allegiance to ATK Mohun Bagan. The Durand Cup winner in 2022 had contrasting fates in the ISL season, finishing third from bottom, with 19 points from 20 matches.
For the upcoming season, Goa’s former player Carlos Pena has taken charge as head coach and has brought in fresh horsepower in attack with the signing of two Spanish strikers Alvaro Vazquez and Iker Guarrotxena, with the former guiding his side to the ISL final in March this year.

Hyderabad FC
Hyderabad FC has decided to stick with the same core squad that won the Indian Super League Championship, including a contract extension for the hero of the ISL final, Laxmikant Kattimani. Manolo Marquez’s side will look to repeat the same success when the season begins in October this year.

Jamshedpur FC
The League Winner last season, Jamshedpur FC saw its head coach Owen Coyle leave the club after a successful spell, while its highest goal scorer Greg Stewart chose to follow suit out of the club.
The Men of Steel suffered heartbreak at the hands of Kerala Blasters in the semifinal last year and will look to go a step ahead of that under a new head coach and a shuffled bunch of players.

Kerala Blasters
The finalist of the last season, Kerala Blasters saw one of its key strikers Alvaro Vazquez leave the club for FC Goa, but with Ivan Vukomanovic still in charge as head coach, the team has welcomed Indians and foreign players equally, with the latest addition being Apostolos Giannou.

Mumbai City FC
Mumbai City FC became the second Indian club to play in the AFC Champions League this year and saw one of it’s most successful strikers, Igor Angulo leave the club. However, the team has signed three Indian footballers with Chhangte an addition to an already strong attack, featuring forwards such as Vikram Singh and Bipin Singh.

NorthEast United FC
The Highlanders saw their season get stifled with target men Federico Gallego and Deshorn Brown picking up injuries early on the season. The light at the end of the tunnel never arrived for the ISL side last season and its head coach, Khalid Jamil, who had carried the side to semifinals the season before, was shown the door.
So far, the side has had just one arrival in the form of defender Gaurav Bora for the upcoming season.

Odisha FC
Odisha FC is one of the Indian Super League sides to start the 2022-23 season with a new man in charge and has already undergon a major reshuffle in its squad, letting its key striker Javier Hernandez and one of its captains Viktor Mongil leave.
However, its reinforcements look promising on paper, comprising players such as Europa League winner Pedro Martin and ISL League Winner Narender Gahlot.
