The Golden Boot award in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, which was held in Germany, was also won by a German: Miroslav Klose. Klose, who is the all-time highest goal-scorer in the history of World Cup, finished that tournament with five goals.
Brazil's Ronaldo scored a brace in the final of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, hosted by Japan and South Korea, and went on to win the Golden Boot for scoring eight goals in the tournament.
Davor Suker was the winner of the Golden Boot award in the 1998 World Cup, which was hosted by France.
