Mitra steps aside, stage set for Bose era in Mohun Bagan

Putting his bitter rivalry with Swapan Sadhan Bose behind, incumbent Anjan Mitra on Wednesday withdrew his nomination for the post of Mohun Bagan’s Secretary General, paving the way for Bose’s unopposed contest in the October 28 elections.

Mitra was not available for a comment but Bose’s son Srinjoy who has filed his nomination for assistant general secretary post said, “Perhaps he (Mitra) has chosen friendship over an election fight. So he has stepped aside.

The father-son duo are thus set to take over the reigns from Mitra’s panel on October 28.

The other members of the Bose panel include Satyajit Chatterjee (treasurer), Debasis Dutta (finance secretary), Samrat Bhowmick (cricket secretary) among others.
