Lorenzo-Vera shoots 63 to storm into Rocco Forte lead

On a day where conditions aided low scoring, Mike Lorenzo-Vera surged to the top of the Rocco Forte Open leaderboard after three rounds.

Mike Lorenzo-Vera carded a sublime eight-under-par 63 to take a two-shot lead into the final round of the Rocco Forte Open.

The Frenchman was two shots back from overnight leaders Julien Guerrier and Lucas Bjerregaard ahead of a calm 'moving day' in Sicily.

And Lorenzo-Vera, who shot 64 a day earlier, signed for a blemish-free round that included a run of five birdies in six holes between the 11th and 16th, which left him at 15 under for the tournament.

His score in round three was matched by Sweden's Joakim Lagergren, who was on for a 62 before a bogey at the 17th dented his momentum, but he finished Saturday's play in a tie for second with Guerrier.

A 65 on Friday had left Guerrier among the leaders and the Frenchman backed that round up with a solid four-under 67 that included an eagle at the par-five ninth, but a bogey at the last.

Bjerregaard is on his own in fourth at 12 under, the Dane recovering from a nightmare double-bogey start to make birdies at the third and fifth, an eagle at the ninth and a further gain at the 16th.

Andy Sullivan - who shot a 65 - and Andrea Pavan are six shots back in a tie for fifth and have plenty of work to do if they are to reel in the leading pack.
