Tiger Woods was hovering around the early projected cut line after a pair of bogeys in round two of the Wells Fargo Championship saw him drift out to two over par through nine holes.

The 14-time major champion, who began the day at even par after squandering a couple of short chances at birdies in Thursday's opening round at Quail Hollow, continued to struggle with his putter.

Woods teed off at the 10th with the day's earlier starters and bogeyed the par-four 11th before following with another blemish on the 14th.

In better news, Woods manoeuvred through Quail Hollow's dangerous "Green Mile" without any further damage.

In Friday's opening round, Woods – who was six shots off the leaders – mixed three birdies with three bogeys but could have finished in red numbers if he had been able to putt more consistently in his first tournament since the Masters in April.
