Eighteen-year-old Prithvi Shaw earned an India call-up for the remaining two Tests — at The Rose Bowl and Kennington Oval — in the ongoing series against England.
The selectors met in Nottingham on Wednesday to decide the squad and the Mumbai batsman was surprised in the middle of the Quadrangular Series for India A.
“I am feeling very good. I first spoke to my father and broke the news. He is also really happy,” an ecstatic Shaw told Sportstar on Wednesday.

While Hanuma Vihari, the other rookie picked for the high profile tour, said he is likely to leave for England on Thursday, Shaw is still clueless about the itinerary. “I don’t know about the travel plans yet. I will have to find that out, but I am very excited to be a part of the series,” he added.
India A and U-19 fielding coach Abhay Sharma, who has been monitoring Shaw with the colts’ head coach Rahul Dravid, praised the youngster for his ability to dominate. “Everybody knows he is a talented boy. He has been performing in the domestic circuit. Now the big platform is coming up. We are very confident that he will do well there also,” Sharma told this publication.
“We just tried to keep things simple for him and he understands that. He has improved in his fielding also from the last one-and-a-half years. He is a different player now. He tries to dominate and hopefully, he will continue that. He is a player for the future,” he added.
