P. V. Sindhu has promised to play her "heart out" in the gold medal match.

P. V. Sindhu stood a win away from bringing home a historic gold medal for India as she beat Japan's Nozomi Okuhara for a place in the badminton singles final. Sindhu struck a flurry of winners to down her higher-ranked opponent 21-19 21-10.

The 21-year-old will face World No. 1 Carolina Marin of Spain today for the gold medal.

Usain Bolt, as predicted, won the 200m with ease to win his eighth Olympic gold medal. Bolt, however, wasn't happy with the 19.78s finish as he had wanted to bring down the world record to sub-19 seconds. He will next vie for a ninth gold in the 4x100m relay.
