Meghana Sajjanar shot 10.8 and 10.6 on the last two targets to pip Aayushi Gupta by 0.3 points for the top position in women’s air rifle at the shooting National selection trials at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, on Sunday.
More importantly, Meghana had topped qualification with 628.0, while Olympian Ayonika Paul finished third behind Gupta, after having qualified in the second place with 626.1.
Some of the leading shooters like Pooja Ghatkar, Elizabeth Susan Koshy, Shriyanka Sadangi, Vinita Bhardwaj failed to make the final.
In the men’s 50-metre rifle prone event, Sushil Ghaley topped ahead of Akhil Sheoran and Sanjeev Rajput.
In the standard pistol, the trio of Vijayveer Sidhu, Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu and Anhad Jawanda took the top three spots in that order, both in the men’s and junior events.
