Marco Cecchinato had never won a grand slam singles match before arriving at the French Open but he is through to the quarter-finals at Roland Garros after upsetting David Goffin.
The unheralded Italian's dream run will continue into the second week following a stunning 7-5 4-6 6-0 6-3 victory over the eighth seed on Sunday.
Cecchinato, 72nd in the rankings, struck 34 winners and broke six times to set up a showdown with Novak Djokovic.
"For me it's a dream, I'm really really happy," Cecchinato said after pulling off a shock on Court Suzanne Lenglen.
"And now I'm playing the quarter-finals, it's unbelievable. Forza Italia!"
The 25-year-old won his first ATP Tour singles title on clay at the Hungarian Open this season.
