Andy Murray will look to add the US Open title to his Wimbledon and Olympic triumphs at Flushing Meadows next week, while Serena Williams has another chance to make history with a 23rd major success.

- Rafael Nadal has reached three US Open finals, facing Djokovic on each occasion (winning two, losing one).

- The last four winners of the US Open men's singles have all been different players (Andy Murray, Nadal, Marin Cilic, Djokovic), Federer is the only player to defend his title at the tournament this century.

- Since 1991, Serena Williams holds the record for the most aces served during a single US Open, serving 70 over the course of the tournament in 1999.

- Defending French Open champion Garbine Muguruza has never made it past the second round of the US Open in three attempts.

- Williams has played 94 career matches at the US Open, if she progresses to the semifinals she will become the third woman to reach 100 matches at the tournament (Chris Evert 113, Martina Navratilova 106).
