Top seed and World No. 1 Jannik Sinner defeated fellow Italian and 2021 finalist Matteo Berrettini 7-6(3), 7-6(4), 2-6, 7-6(4) to reach the third round of Wimbledon 2024 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), London on Wednesday.
Defending champion and third seed Carlos Alcaraz also advanced with a 7-6(5), 6-2, 6-2 win over Australia’s Aleksandar Vukic
In women’s singles, second seed and reigning US Open champion Coco Gauff crushed Romanian qualifier Anca Todoni 6-2, 6-1 to progress to the third round.
Former US Open champion and local wildcard Emma Raducanu also made it to the next stage with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Belgium’s Elise Mertens.
