Expectations were high on R. Praggnanandhaa to become the youngest Grandmaster in the world. He couldn't, but another Indian youngster is on course to snatch that piece of history.

D. Gukesh, all of 12, bagged his second GM norm by winning the Paracin closed GM round robin chess tournament on Sunday night in Serbia with a round to spare.

He will next play in the Sunway Sitges chess festival which begins on December 12. If Gukesh (born on May 29, 2006) can get his final GM norm in the coastal town of Sitges (Spain), he will become world's youngest GM beating Sergey Karjakin's record of 12 years and 7 months.

Gukesh has time till December 29 to make history.
