Croatia Grand Chess Tour: Anand draws with Giri in sixth round

Magnus Carlsen and Wesley So are on four points after six rounds of the Croatia Grand Chess Tour.

Viswanathan Anand’s sequence of draws stretched to five rounds after he split the point with Anish Giri in the sixth round of Croatia Grand Chess Tour here on Monday.

For a change, the other five games proved decisive. Among these, Ding Liren upstaged overnight leader Ian Nepomniachtchi. Magnus Carlsen and Wesley So joined Nepomniachtchi at four points after fluent victories.

Sixth round: Anish Giri (Ned, 2) drew with Viswanathan Anand (2.5); Ding Liren (Chn, 3.5) bt Ian Nepomniachtchi (Rus, 4); Magnus Carlsen (Nor, 4) bt Hikaru Nakamura (USA, 2); Wesley So (USA, 4) bt Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Aze, 2); Levon Aronian (Arm, 3.5) bt Sergey Karjakin (Rus, 2.5); Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (Fra, 2.5) lost to Fabiano Caruana (USA, 3.5).
