With the BCCI's examinations for Level-1 umpires last year coming in for a lot of criticism, the Board has decided to hold it all over again for all applicants.
Candidates who appeared for the Refresher Course for Level-1 umpires last year received two completely different sets of questions at different venues. While the first set of exams were held on June 7 in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Nagpur and Kolkata, candidates appeared in Indore, Pune, Chennai and Visakhapatnam on June 10 2017 and the huge difference in the degree of difficulty in the two papers left many puzzled.
Sportstar had
reported about it first on June 14, 2017.
While Paper 1 was considered straightforward, Paper 2 was full of tricky and hypothetical situations where a lot of thinking was needed with several applicants expressing doubts that the earlier paper was set to help a certain set of candidates.
Dates for fresh examinations for all candidates who appeared on June 7 and 10 would be announced soon.
