UPDATE from reporter Ashwin Achal from Alur: A marathon effort from Kalsi, who brings up his 100 off 339 balls. With nine down, things were getting tense for Kalsi. A thick inside edge off pacer Pathania is enough to get the 3 runs required to reach a century

Ankit Kalsi's batting on 95, with Varun Aaron partnering him. India Red is eight for 272.

UPDATE: Heavy showers had forced umpires to take the players off the field, but the rain has stopped and the covers are coming off.

Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel fall in quick succession

Diwesh Pathania injects life to the game, updates our reporter at the ground Ashwin Achal. Firstly, he gets Kishan to edge an outswinger to Ricky Bhui at slip, and then takes out new man Axar Patel's middle stump off the very next ball. Jaydev Unadkat, however, denies Pathania the hat-trick with a forward defence. India Red 263 for six. Kishan's out right after making fifty, while Ankit Kalsi's batting on 88.

WICKET! Harpreet Singh Bhatia is out for 2, caught by wicketkeeper Snell Patel off the bowling of Aniket Choudhary. India Red slips to 189 for four.

OUT! Karun Nair stumped for 99 off the bowling of Saurabh Kumar. Our reporter Ashwin Achal updates: Karun Nair prods forward to left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar, and drags his feet out. Wicketkeeper Snell Patel gathers the ball and whips off the bails. The third umpire is called into action, and after a long delay, gives Nair out stumped. He's out for 99, most unfortunate.

India Red resumes its first innings at 163 for two, with Karun Nair and Ankit Kalsi building on their 100-run stand.
