Martin Guptill, who had had a tough time with the bat coming into the World Cup semifinal against India, made a crucial intervention on the field to help New Zealand beat the two-time champion and help the Kiwis to seal a place in the final.

His nearly 50-yard throw from the deep, caught M. S. Dhoni short of the crease by a couple of inches. Dhoni, who had partnered Ravindra Jadeja to drag India back into the contest after a disastrous start was running back for a second run when Guptill's stunning direct hit ended his knock.

Guptill had aggregated 93 runs in seven innings after an unbeaten 73 in New Zealand's first match against Sri Lanka and his struggle with the bat increased the burden on captain Kane Williamson, batting at No. 3.

Guptill is known for his fielding prowess, and he had his impact on this crucial game with this stunning fielding feat.
