He finished with four for 51 from his 10 overs. The hat-trick against Australia was the second of his ODI career with his first coming against Pakistan in November last year in UAE.
India's Mohammed Shami took the first hat-trick of this World Cup against Afghanistan.
Boult's hat-trick was the 11 in the tournament's history and the first Kiwi bowler to do it in a World Cup.
