Angelo Mathews brought up his third ODI century to spearhead the Sri Lankan innings. He made 113 runs off 128 balls with ten fours and two sixes. Mathews came in to bat during the 11th over and batted till the 49th over.

Lahiru Thirimanne put up a partnership of 124 runs with Mathews for the fifth-wicket to steady the innings for Sri Lanka after it was in a spot of bother at 55 for 4. Thirimanne scored 53 off 68 with four shots to the boundary.

Jasprit Bumrah removed both the Sri Lankan openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Perera within the eight over. Skipper Karunaratne was out for 10 and wicket-keeper Kusal scored 18. Bumrah ended his quota of ten overs with the wicket of centurion Mathews and had figures of 3 for 37 in 10 overs with 2 maidens.

Rohit Sharma scored his fifth century in this year's ICC World Cup, the most in any edition. He, with 647 runs, also went above Shakib-Al-Hasan in the list of leading run-scorers in the 2019 World Cup. Rohit was out for 103 runs off 94 balls with 14 fours and 2 sixes on Saturday.

KL Rahul brought up his second ODI century and first in the World Cup. He scored 111 off 118 with 11 fours and 1 six and stitched together a partnership of 189 runs with Rohit for the first-wicket. Rahul's first ODI century had come in his debut game for India against Zimbabwe. India beat Sri Lanka and moved to the top of the points table.
