  • It's stumps on day three of the practice match between Cricket Australia XI and India. The home side ends the day on 356/6, just two runs shy of India's first innings total of 358. Aaron Hardie and Harry Nielsen put up a fine showing and remain unbeaten on 69 and 56 respectively. Mohammed Shami was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he claimed three wickets for 67 runs, while Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin picked up one apeice.

  • DROPPED! Ajinkya Rahane drops Hardie on 67 at short cover. How expensive is this miss going to be?

  • There's the 100-run partnership. Hardie and Nielsen have added a 101 runs for the seventh wicket and have both registered half-centuries in the process. CA XI is now at 335 for the loss of six wickets and trails India by 23 runs.

  • Aaron Hardie and Harry Nielsen have formed a formidable partnership here. The two have steered CA XI to 300 and have added 66 for the seventh wicket. We have around 12 overs to go and CA XI trails by 58 runs.

  • It's confirmed: Indian opener Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of the opening Australia vs India Test after suffering an ankle injury during the ongoing tour game against CA XI.

  • At the tea break, CA XI is at 246 for the loss of six wickets and trails India by 112 runs.

  • Change in bowling for India. Ishant Sharma is back in the attack, while part-timer Hanuma Vihari is bowling some off-spin at the other end.

  • Shami at it again! Merlo goes for the drive but can't connect and edges it to Pant. CA at 234/6. This is India's fourth wicket of the session.

  • Shami strikes again. Carder played a gritty knock of 38 off 139 deliveries but is undone by a lovely delivery from Shami. With Carder gone, CA XI has two new batsmen in Harry Nielsen and Jonathan Merlo in the middle. CA 226/5, trails by 132.

  • OUT! The new man in Param Uppal is sent back to the pavilion. He plays a half-volley towards mid on and tries to sneak a single but he's run out by Ashwin. CA 226/4.

  • Umesh picks up his first wicket of the match. It was a length ball and Whiteman goes for the drive but edges it to wicketkeeper Pant and has to depart for 35. CA XI 213/3.

  • 200 up for CA XI. Carder and Whiteman have looked in good form so far, having put up a 50-run partnership for the third wicket. The Australians are slowly, but steadily chasing down India's first innings total of 358. CA XI is 207/2 at the end of  52 overs and trails by 151 runs.

  • Good news for India, Shaw is back on his feet!

  • That's the end of the first session. The Australians did get off to a strong start and were scoring freely but the departure of both openers, Byrant and Short, has put them in a bit of a fix. The Indian bowlers are yet to impress an will be looking to put up a better display in the next session. CA XI 178/2, trails by 180 runs.

  • Indian skipper Virat Kohli has given the ball to his spin duo of Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. The latter has been a tad expensive, going for 24 runs in his six overs. However, the duo has brought the run-rate down to 4.2 runs per over.

  • Sam Whiteman is the new man in.

  • Call it the commentator's curse but Short has been dismissed by Shami. Among the seasoned campaigners in the CA XI squad, the all-rounder struck a fine 74 before being caught by Rishabh Pant off Shami. CA XI at 153/2, trails by 205 runs.

  • 150 up for CA XI. Short and Carder have cemented themselves at the middle and have put up a 36-run stand thus far. CA XI trails by 208 runs.

  • The Indian pacers have failed to impress so far. Shami and Umesh have gone for runs, with both their economy rates reading upwards of five runs an over. Ashwin has been the most economical bowler so far, giving away only 14 runs in his eight overs.

  • Here's an update on Shaw's injury:

  • CA XI's run rate has considerably dropped since Bryant's dismissal. The home side was cruising at six runs an over at one point. CA at 122/1, trails by 236 runs.

  • Jake Carder is the new man on the crease. He joins Short, who is unbeaten on 51.

  • There's the breakthrough India wanted! It's Ashwin who gets the job done as he bowls Bryant out to break the opening partnership. CA XI at 114/1 at the end of the 19th over.

  • Oh boy, this could spell trouble for the debutant Shaw.

  • CA XI has got off to a fine start. The opening duo of Max Bryant and D'Arcy Short have brought up their 100-run partnership and are looking solid in the middle. CA XI is at 108/0 at the end of 17 overs.

  •

  • The onus will be on the Indian bowling attack to perform today. The three-pronged pace department consists of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma, while right-arm offie Ravichandran Ashwin will lead the spin department.

  • India put up a dominating display on day two with as many as five batsmen posting half-centuries. Teenager Prtihvi Shaw top-scored with 66, while skipper Virat Kohli struck a gritty 64. CA XI trailed India by 334 runs at the end of day's play. ( REPORT )
