Ishant Sharma bowled a fiery spell before tea.

WICKET! Umesh gets his second in the final over of the evening and that's stumps!  Coming around the wicket, he bowls it outside off to which Taijul just fends at and ends up gloving it to Rahane at second slip. He departs for 11.  Bangladesh is 89 runs behind with Mushfiqur unbeaten on 59 with three wickets, four if Mahmudullah returns, in hand. Another solid day for India unless Mushfiqur and possibly Mahmudullah channel the spirit of Laxman and Dravid to do a Kolkata '01 on India! We will find out tomorrow. Until then it's goodbye.

Mushfiqur is given out lbw again by Erasmus, this time to the bowling of Ashwin. Maushfiqur reviews it again, and has it overturned for the second time in this innings. He had gloved the ball on to the pads when attempting the sweep. He is batting on 59 and Bangladesh crosses 150.

Another fifteen minutes left in the night's play. Unless a dramatic collapse ensues, we will see a third day's play in this Test match. BAN 144/5 in 30 overs

WICKET! Ishant is back in the attack and he gets his fourth wicket! He gets one to straighten on fourth stump line and Mehidy goes fishing for it which only gets a thick edge to first slip. Kohli comfortably snaffles that up. Fifty one run stand between the two comes to an end. Taijul Islam, the concussion sub, is the new batsman. BAN 133/5 in 26 overs

Fifty for Mushfiqur! His second of the series and shows the rest of the batting line-up how to get things done. He reaches the mark in 54 balls.

A rare sighting if one could say that considering how well Indian pacers have been. India introduces spin for the first time in the second innings in the 23rd over. Adding to that, Ashwin gets to bowl for the first time in the Test! And he nearly gets a wicket in his first over! Rahane drops Mehidy at first slip. BAN 110/4 in 23 overs

Of course, that one run to reach that small landmark for the Tigers would come at a cost. Mahmudullah scampered for a single after hitting the ball to mid-off and as he completed the run he seemed to have pulled his hamstring. After a check by the physio, the batsman has now limped off the field. Shame for Bangladesh that as it finally seemed to be countering against a dominant Indian side. Mehidy Hasan has joined Mushfiqur at the crease now which means it opens the door for India again to inflict further damage.

The duo has now added 69 runs -- the highest partnership for Bangladesh this series after Mominul and Mushfirur scored 68 on the first morning of the series in Indore for the fourth wicket. BAN 82/4 in 18.3 overs

Marais Erasmus raises the finger to Umesh rapping the pads of Mushfiqur, who calls for a review immediately. DRS overturns the decision as replay shows Mushfiqur inside edged that delivery.

Mahmudullah is striking at a rate of 100 having scored 28 so far -- his highest score this series. Umesh comes back into the attack and hits the helmet of Mushfiqur, who tried to duck under a bouncer. Bangladesh physio is out to check on him to make sure he is okay to continue. Fifty-run partnership is up between the pair in less than 50 balls. This partnership is reminiscent of the one India had in the final session when Pujara and Kohli scored a flurry of boundaries.  BAN 68/4 after 16 Overs.

Mahmudullah and Rahim have taken the attack to the Indian bowlers: some sweetly timed strokes in the last 20 minutes or so. The two have added 48 runs so far. BAN 61/4 after 14 Overs.

Ishant Sharma gets another one: Imrul Kayes bites the dust leaving Bangladesh four down for 13. India are stamping their authority in some style here. BAN 13/4 after 6.4 Overs.

Bangladesh have been battered and bruised in that session. India needs eight wickets to win after Ishant rattled the top-order following India's declaration. We will be back soon for the third and final session of day two. BAN 7/2 after 5 Overs.

================================

Mithun wears a blow on his helmet now. That's a nasty delivery from Ishant. He's all over the Bangladesh batsmen at the moment. He is being assessed by the physio now. Remember, Bangladesh has already used two concussion substitutes. Right then, Mithun will continue.

Ishant Sharma is on fire: he gets rid of Mominul for a six-ball duck. Bangladesh are unravelling in spectacular fashion under lights. BAN 4/2 after 3 Overs.

Ishant Sharma to bowl the first over. Shadman Islam to open with Imrul Kayes in the second innings. GONE! Islam has been given out lbw. He reviews but to no avail. An early breakthrough for India and an already steep mountain just got steeper to climb for Bangladesh. BAN 0/1 after 1 Over. Bangladesh trails by 241 runs.

============================

INDIA HAVE DECLARED ON 347/9. India leads by 241 runs.

42,697 the official attendance at the Eden Gardens today.

WICKET! No fireworks from Umesh Yadav. He falls for a duck. IND 330/8 after 86.4 Overs.

WICKET! Ashwin has been struck in front and given out lbw. India loses another wicket. Al-Amin with the breakthrough. IND 329/7 after 86 Overs.

Ashwin gets three fours on the trot... Make that four fours in an over. Ebadat Hossain is all over the place. 17 runs off Hossain's 21st over. Saha is batting on 13 off 26 balls. The lead is now 222 runs. IND 328/6 after 85 Overs.

GONE! What a catch. My word. Taijul Islam pulls off a blinder to get rid of Kohli. He departs for 136. Ravichandran Ashwin joins Saha. IND 308/6 after 80.3 Overs.

Saha got off the mark with a boundary, before collecting another boundary off Islam. Kohli meanwhile is nearing his 150. He has hit 18 fours in his innings so far. India's lead goes past 200.

Update: The second new ball is due in two overs.

WICKET! Abu Jayed strikes with the second ball after lunch: Jadeja shoulders arm to an incoming delivery, only to see the ball rattle his off-stump. Much-needed respite for the Bangla Tigers. Wriddhiman Saha comes to the crease. IND 289/5 after 76.2 Overs.

Welcome back for the second session. Can Bangladesh get some wickets in this session or will the Kohli juggernaut roll on?

========================

The second session is all set to begin and having slammed his 27th Test ton, India skipper Virat Kohli will aim to hit a double. He has Ravindra Jadeja for company and overall it promises to be a cracker of a twilight session.

LATE LUNCH! India, well and truly, in the driver's seat. They lead by 183 runs. Kohli is batting on 130. He has Jaddu for company. Rahane got to his 22nd fifty before holing out. That was the lone bright spot in an otherwise disappointing session for the visitor.

Wriddhaayan gives a session update:  This one belonged to Virat Kohli. He entered the list of firsts. Lala Amarnath was the first batsman to score a Test hundred for India in 1933-34. Kohli is the first batsman to score a day-night Test hundred in 2019-20.

You’ve got to love how this batsman adapts to every new challenge. When he came into bat on Friday, it was 6:07 pm with the floodlight shining bright above. At 2:27 pm today, he reached his century. So here’s a man who has batted in all different conditions in this Test match; 130 not out, 17 boundaries, 467 minutes at lunch on day two.

==========================

Kohli flexing his muscles now as he lays into Abu Jayed, carting him for four consecutive boundaries. This man makes batting look so ridiculously easy at times. He has moved to 124 off 175 balls. Jadeja is on 10. IND 281/4 after 72 Overs.

Virat Kohli moves to 99 with a delectable drive. CENTURY NO 70. TEST HUNDRED NO 27 for VIRAT KOHLI. Take a bow. He gets to the landmark with a brace. This is also Kohli's 20th Test hundred as captain. Remarkable numbers. IND 257/4 after 68 Overs. India's lead is now past 150.

Virat Kohli moves into the nineties with a single. He is now 10 shy of a 27th Test hundred, 70th overall. Mindboggling numbers these. He will also become to the first Indian batsman to hit a hundred in a pink ball match. Records at Kohli's mercy. IND 242/4 after 64 Overs.

Ravindra Jadeja comes to the crease.

WICKET! And one totally against the run of play. Rahane falls to Taijul Islam... miscuing the cut shot and Ebadat Hossain makes no mistake. India four down. IND 236/4 after 61.1 Overs.

Rahane gets to his fourth consecutive fifty in Test cricket with a boundary and a single. The hundred against the West Indies earlier this year has well and truly turned things around for India's Test vice-captain.

Ebadat Hossain is back into the attack. Rahane welcomes him with a delightful drive through extra-cover. Both batsmen nearing individual milestones; Rahane his fifty and Kohli his hundred. The partnership too nearing the three-figure mark. IND 220/3 after 59 Overs.

Rahane's hook shot for four takes India's lead past the 100-run mark. Al-Amin leaking runs at the moment and some sloppy work in the field isn't helping his cause either. Mahmudullah's nightmare in the field continues, as he misfields another one. "He just seems disinterested.. looks listless at the moment" Sunny G has some harsh words for Mahmudullah. IND 209/3 after 56 Overs.

ICYMI| Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill have been released from the squad today morning to play in the Syed Mushtaq Trophy. K. S. Bharat has joined the squad as a replacement.

Al-Amin errs in line and length... goes full on middle and Kohli drives it through deep mid-wicket for four. Rahane, an over later, drives uppishly past the bowler for his first four of the afternoon before Kohli unleashed yet another sumptuous cover-drive. Four boundaries within the first 15 minutes of play. IND 194/3 after 51 Overs.

Plenty of talk on air from Murali Kartik about bowling on both sides of the wicket and how it'll be unproductive for Bangladesh in the longer run. Both batsmen are set... Kohli collected his first boundary of the noon by getting inside the line of a Taijul Islam delivery and flicking it away for four. Taijul is the concussion substitute for Nayeem Hassan . Al-Amin is sharing the new ball. Bangladesh have three seamers in their ranks and yet they've thrown the new ball to a spinner. Curious. IND 180/3 after 48 Overs.

Close to 50,000 people turned up yesterday. Plenty of action on offer too, with Ishant Sharma bagging his first five-for at home in 12 years. Only the fourth time that fast bowlers took all 10 wickets for India at home. What does day two has in store of us? We will find out soon enough.

PITCH REPORT| "It was a repeat of what happened in Indore: the Bangladesh batsmen were ordinary then and it was no different here... maybe they got a little overwhelmed by the occassion... full house at Eden gardens can deter anyone... The pitch didn't misbehave... the ball didn't swing anymore than it did in Indore. All these cracks will be fine and it is still a good wicket to bat on..." says Sunil Gavaskar.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli became the fastest to 5000 Test runs as captain.| More here

Ghastly and boisterous, the pink ball that rolled at the Eden Gardens on Friday led to two concussions and a quirky scorecard with 12 batsmen. The  India  pacers ran through  Bangladesh,  dismissing it for 106, to be on top of the historic Test match on Day 1. Here's the report from day 1| Ishant, Kohli lead way in India's pink-ball dominance
