IND vs AFG, 2nd T20I highlights: Jaiswal, Dube, bowlers help India seal series against Afghanistan

Farooqi bowling his last over. Rinku looking for a photo finish but unable to. India wins with 26 balls to spare and clinches the series with one more match to be played. 

Janat continues and Rinku now whacks him for a four towards leg side. Three singles in the over. 

Farooqi is back. Rinku Singh is the new man in. Dube pulls past short fine leg for four. 

Karim Janat. Full ball and Dube just times it past covers for four. Outstanding batting this. OUT! Jaiswal tries to slash a ball that is close to his body and ends up getting an edge straight to the keeper. He falls for 68 off 34 balls. 

Jitesh walks in. An appeal for LBW but the umpire isn’t interested. No review taken. But goes on the second ball. Back of the length, tries to go over mid off but hits it straight to the fielder.

Naveen is back and Dube welcomes him with a powerful shot straight past him for four. Another four. On the pads and he whacks it towards midwicket. Another boundary on the fifth ball. Hits it towards long on, the fielder dives in front to take a catch but misses the ball completely. Fifty for Dube in 22 balls. 

Noor continues. Jaiswal charges, hits it in the gap between long on and midwicket for four. WOW! Jaiswal launches over long on for a SIX! And he ends the over with another SIX. Jaiswal sweeps it over square leg. 

Nabi continues. Jaiswal takes a single and reaches his fifty in 27 balls. Dube charges and launches the ball over long on for a SIX! And another SIX. This time slog sweep into the midwicket stand. Full toss and it’s three sixes in a row. 21 runs off the over. 

Noor Ahmed’s second over begins with Dube slapping him straight over long off for a SIX. Been a tight over hence. But still 11 runs off it. 

Mohammed Nabi with his off spin against two left handers. Jaiswal charges down the track and whacks Nabi straight for a SIX! Terrific knock by the youngster. Nine runs from the over. 

Noor Ahmed into the attack. First quiet over of the innings. Six runs from the over. 

Naveen continues. Full ball and Kohli slogs it towards midwicket for a four (almost a six). OUT! Kohli is gone. Another full ball and he looked to go over mid-off but ends up hitting it straight to the fielder. He goes for 29 off 16 balls. 

Shivam Dube walks in at number four. So two left handers at the crease now. SHOT! Jaiswal picks a length ball over covers for a SIX! Talk about power. 

Change of ends for Mujeeb. A wide yorker and Kohli places it past extra covers for a four! Then pushes the ball towards midwicket and steals a double. Jaiswal then gets two more boundaries: one past cover and the other past point. And ends the over with another four this time straight. 

Naveen ul Haq comes into the attack. SHOT! Back of the length and Kohli hits it straight over the bowlers’ head for a four! Super shot. Seven runs from the over. 

Farooqi continues. Full ball and Jaiswal picks it straight for a SIX! On a similar length, this time Jaiswal hits it straight towards the bowler but Farooqi isn’t able to hold on to it. Follows it up with a short ball and Jaiswal hooks it over midwicket for a SIX. 14 runs off the over. 

Mujeeb Ur Rahman from the other end. Kohli gets going! Half-volley and Kohli smacks it past covers for four. Gets a double on the next ball. Ends the over with a four. Another wide delivery outside off but Kohli sweeps it towards midwicket! 

Fazalhaq Farooqi to Yashasvi Jaiswal, full outside off stump and the left-hander slashes past point for four to begin the proceedings. Jaiswal walks down the track, a full ball, he’s hit on the pads and Afghanistan has reviewed. Umpire wasn’t interested. And the decision stands as the ball is missing the leg-stump. A single on the fourth ball brings Rohit Sharma on the strike. OUT! A golden duck for Rohit Sharma. Back of the length, Rohit goes for a wild slog, gets beaten and the ball crashes on the off stump. 

Virat Kohli is in now. A push to mid-on, no run. 

Arshdeep for his last over. A wide yorker sorts, Janat goes for it but hits it straight to long off. He falls for 20. Second wicket for Arshdeep today. Noor Ahmed hits a single on the first ball. Full toss and Mujeeb whacks it past a diving cover fielder for four! A single on the next ball. OUT! Arshdeep comes round the wicket, full ball, Mujeeb slogs it straight to long on. Naveen ul Haq is welcomed to the crease with chants of “RCB, RCB.” A wide ball but there’s a run out. Naveen doesn’t run but Mujeeb ends up at the strikers’ end. An easy run out. Mujeeb goes for 21. OUT! Another run out on the last ball. Afghanistan batters try to go for a second run but Jaiswal runs faster than the batter and gets him out. 

Dube bowling the penultimate over. Janat gets one on the hips and whips it towards square leg for four. Another gentle half-volley by Dube and Janat hits this one over long on for a SIX. A loopy slower ball by Dube and Mujeeb is clueless where the ball lands. However, the next ball, Mujeeb gets one on the pads and slogs it into the midwicket stands. 

Arshdeep. OUT! Back of the length, leg cutter and Zadran chops onto the stumps! He falls for 23. Mujeeb Ur Rahman at the crease now. SHOT! Bouncer and Mujeeb slaps the ball over square leg for a SIX! He was probably expecting given that the previous two were also bouncers. Full ball, Mujeeb slashes, gets a thick outside edge and the ball goes past short third for a four. 

Now Zadran gets one in the slot by Bishnoi and hits it straight over long on for a SIX. A touch wide by Bishnoi on the next ball and Zadran hits it over extra cover for four! Another SIX! Too full, and Zadran slog sweeps just over midwicket. 17 runs off the over. 

Sundar bowling his third over. Another tight over by Sundar. Not giving much room to the batters and keeping it on the good lengths. Janat finds a way on the last ball though and sweeps it over short fine leg for four. 

Ravi Bishnoi for his third over. OUT! Nabi goes for a slog, doesn’t time it well and is caught right at the long-off boundary. Five down Afghanistan. Zadran takes out his reverse sweep. He has hit it, well, in the gap between keeper and the first slip! A four nevertheless. 

Arshdeep is back into the attack. Two singles off first two balls. Arshdeep using his slow balls well. A leg-cutter and an off-cutter. Both ended up beating the batters. 

Sundar bowling to a left-hander, a single. But against right hander Nabi, a wide ball outside off is hit for four towards covers. Six runs off the over. 

Axar for his last over. OUT! Naib gets another short ball and goes to hit another power shot but this time hits straight to short midwicket fielder. Naib goes for 57. 

Najibullah Zadran, left-hander, comes in. Just two runs and a wicket in that over. Axar is done for today. 

Washington Sundar comes into the attack now. Half-tracker and Nabi launches him over midwicket for a SIX! Nine runs from his first over. 

Axar for his third over. Fifty! Naib pushes the ball towards midwicket for a single and reaches his half-century in 28 balls. A splendid knock. 

Dube continues. Naib clears leg, and smacks a SIX over midwicket. A nothing ball: slow ball, and a half-tracker. Naib gets another one in the slot and this time hits it over long on for another SIX! 

Axar continues. Nabi chips it and the ball goes just over the umpire and falls safe and gets him a single. Just three runs from the over. 

Shivam Dube begins his spell with two dot balls. Followed by two singles. OUT! Omarzai is gone. Back of the length, slow ball, and didn’t bounce as Omarzai expected while going for a slog. Afghanistan three down now. Mohammed Nabi at the crease now. 

Now Axar Patel is into the attack. Three singles off the first three balls. OUT! Zadran is bowled. On the middle-off stump and turns away enough to beat Zadran’s bat and disturb the stumps. Azmatullah Omarzai is the new man in. Naib ends the over and the PowerPlay with a loft over midwicket for a four. 

Bishnoi bowls a half-tracker and Naib hits it over midwicket boundary for a SIX! Too far outside off stump and Naib smacks over overs for four. Follows it up with another boundary in the same region; this time a drive. Tries to bowl a flipper but it down the leg wide. 18 runs from the over. 

Mukesh continues. Back of the length and Naib hits a short arm jab for four. He follows it up with a drive towards covers off a wide low full toss. Another 10-run over. 

Spin introduced early. Ravi Bishnoi into the attack. OUT! Bishnoi strikes on the second ball. Gurbaz hits it straight to mid-on. Gulbadin Naib in at number three. First run of the over on the fifth ball as Naib pushes one towards leg side for a single. Another single on the last ball. 

Mukesh Kumar from the other end. Gurbaz smacks his first ball for a six straight over the bowler’s head. On the third ball, India has taken a review for LBW. The ball jagged back into Zadran but umpire said no. On review, the DRS shows its height. Zadran charges and smacks him over covers for four. 11 runs off the over. 

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran open the innings. Arshdeep Singh with the new ball. Arshdeep starts off with a wide outside off stump. Back of the length and too wide. And another wide. This time down the leg side. On the pads and Gurbaz flicks it towards midwicket for four on the first legal ball of the match. He has got his line and length right. Two balls, top of off stump and as many dots. Gurbaz comes down the track and lofts it straight in the air. Falls just before the boundary and he gets two runs. Nine runs from the first over.

IND vs AFG, 2nd T20I: Rohit Sharma becomes first male cricketer to play 150 T20 international matches

Rohit Sharma created history by becoming the first male cricketer to appear in 150 T20 international matches during the second T20I between India and Afghanistan in Indore on Sunday.

November, 2022. In the ICC T20 World Cup semifinals against England.
