IND vs SA, 2nd T20I HIGHLIGHTS: Varun fifer in vain as Stubbs, Coetzee help South Africa win by three wickets

Arshdeep starts off with a short delivery and Stubbs pulls it for a FOUR! SA Cruising towards a victory! Wide outside off, thick outside edge and it runs away for a boundary! Now it’s surely done. SA needs 5 runs off 10 balls. Stand and deliver. Short from Arshdeep again Stubbs pulls it straight for a FOUR! Scores level. Another short one, another pull AND STUBBS FINISHES OFF IN STYLE WITH A FOUR! A come-from-behind three-wicket victory for the Proteas as they level the series. 

Avesh replaces Bishnoi. Starts off with a straight full toss, Coetzee hits it straight over the bowler’s head for a FOUR! This is turning out to be a match-defining partnership. ANOTHER FOUR! This time through the covers as Avesh bowls on the slot. Another full toss towards the pads, Coetzee flicks it for a double. Single off the last ball and Stubbs will retain strike

Arshdeep is back into the attack, replaces Hardik. The required run rate has climbed closed to 10 per over now. An uphill task for Stubbs and Coetzee. On the slot and it’s smoked steaight over the bowler’s head for a SIX! Arshdeep misses the yorker, bowls a wide full toss. Stubbs says ‘thank you’ and drives it through covers for a FOUR! Good over for the home side

Bishnoi continues. The Proteas need 49 runs in five overs. Is this game sealed now?? BISHNOI STRIKES! He breaks through Simelane’s sweep and the ball crashes on to middle and leg. 

Hardik back into the attack, replaces Varun. He bowls short and it goes over the wide line. Hardik has now bowled three wide deliveries in an attempt to bowl slower yorkers. Nine runs came from the over 

Bishnoi continues. Slightly outside off and full, Stubbs reverse sweeps it for a FOUR! Much needed one that

Varun to bowl his fourth. WHAT A NIGHT HE’S BEEN HAVING! HE REMOVES THE DANGEROUS KLAASEN! AGAIN! Slightly short and slower through the air, Klaasen rocks back and tries to clear long off but hits it into the hands of Arshdeep. ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST! Miller walks back. VARUN ON A HAT-TRICK AND HAS PICKED UP THE FIVE-FOR! Simelane is the next batter in. He negates the hat-trick delivery and gets off the mark with a single. A superb spell comes to an end

Bishnoi replaces Axar. Tidy over, just one run came from it

Change of ends for Varun, he replaces Bishnoi. Slightly outside off, Stubbs tries to push it through covers but it takes a thick outside edge and runs towards the boundary. JANSEN DEPARTS! VARUN RATTLES THE STUMPS AGAIN! ANOTHER GOOGLY that the batter has failed to read. He has single handedly turned this match around. Klaasen is in at six

Axar replaces Varun. SA needs 70 from 11 overs. Slower through the air and straightens after pitching, Stubbs tries to drive and misses. Just two runs from the over 

Spin from both sides as Ravi Bishnoi is introduced. Wide down the leg side. Stubbs takes a single to bring up the 50 for South Africa. Short delivery from Bishnoi, Jansen crouches and smacks it on the leg side for a FOUR! 

Varun continues. Starts off with a short delivery, Hendricks rocks back and lofts it, and is able to just clear the midwicket fielder. Full and towards the legstumps, Hendricks moves towards the pitch of the ball and plays an inside out through covers for a FOUR! ONE MORE FOR VARUN! GOOGLY AGAIN. Hendricks left clueless as the ball zaps past his defense and clips the top of leg stumps! Jansen gets a promotion. Down the legside, Jansen tries to flick it, Samson catches it behind the stumps and lets out a loud appeal for caught behind but the umpire thinks otherwise. DRS taken. Ultra edge shows the ball grazed the pads, not out. Seven runs and a wicket from the over 

Hardik continues. India was in a similar situation at this stage (36/3). Quiet over so far from Hardik, just three off the first fovbe balls

Varun Chakravarthy is into the attack, replaces Avesh. VARUN STRIKES! Knocks over the leg stump as Markram fails to read the googly. Stubbs is in at four. Superb over from Varun. One run conceded and a wicket as well

Hardik is into the attack, replaces Arshdeep. A painful evening for Markram. He got hit on his fingers last innings and this time, Hardik’s bouncer passes through his gate and hits him on his helmet. Fuller delivery, Hendricks plays a pick up shot over square leg for a SIX! 

Avesh continues. Slightly full and outside off, Hendricks smacks it towards point but a good piece of fielding from Arshdeep stops the ball from running away to the boundary. Tidy over from Avesh, just two came from it 

Arshdeep continues and Rickleton continues his hitting as well. Down the pads, Rickleton guides it towards the fine leg region for a FOUR! ARSHDEEP PROVIDES THE BREAKTHROUGH! Deceives Rickleton with a knuckle ball as the batter lefted it on the leg side and right into the hands of Rinku. Aiden Markram is in at three. 

Avesh Khan is into the attack. Short and straight, Hendricks pulls it hard for a FOUR! The sound of the bat said it all. Cracking shot. Pitched straight and angled away from Hendricks, it takes an outside edge but runs in between the slip fielders for a FOUR! 

We’re back for the chase. Ryan Rickleton and Reeza Hendricks will open the chase for the Proteas while Arshdeep will start with the ball. 

Three dots on the trot from Arshdeep. Shortish and wide outside off, Rickleton frees his hands and l7fts it over covers for a FOUR! Stump line this time, Rickleton clears his foot and hits it over midwicket for a couple of runs

Jansen to bowl the final over. He starts off with a pin-point yorker and it’s a dot. Fuller one this time, Hardik uses his bottom hand and hits it through covers. It was in the air but quite fast through the air, Markram attempts to grab it but squanders. He’s down on the ground and is in visible pain, holding his pinky finger. Another chance goes down! Short delivery from Jansen, Hardik tries to pull it but it takes a top edge and goes towards Coetzee at third man, who misses the catch. Wow! Hardik did not run there. Short again, Hardik slashes it over the keeper’s head for a FOUR. India finishes with 124/6 on the board in 20 overs!

Coetzee continues. Slightly outside off, Arshdeep tucks it past the point fielder for a single, Hardik back on strike. Coetzee bowls a slow full toss outside off, Hardik swings and misses. Brilliant over so far from Coetzee. He has conceded just two runs in five deliveries inlcuding a wide. Swing and a miss off the final ball but Hardik steals a single

Jansen comes back. Back of a length, Hardik rocks back and uses his wrist to hit a FOUR through the covers. Length ball outside off, Hardik smashes it for a SIX! Short delivery, Haridk plays a no-look ramp over third man for a FOUR! A productive over for the Indians

Coetzee comes in to bowl his third. He starts off with a wide. Short and wide outside off, Hardik swings and misses. Coetzee has bowled three wide balls now but his rest of the deliveries were superb dots. Yorking length, Hardik digs deep, uses his bottom hand and hits it through the midwicket region for a FOUR! India reaches 100

Peter to bowl his final over. On the off stump line, Rinku goes for a slog sweep, it goes high but doesn’t have the power as Coetzee pouches an easy catch. Arshdeep Singh is the next batter in. Arshdeep tries to defend a full delivery on the front foot and misses, Klaasen collects and uproots the stumps. Huge shouts for a wicket, umpire is unmoved. DRS taken. There’s no edge and he was well within the crease when the stumps were hit. Down the legisde, Arshdeep picks it up and smokes it for a SIX !

Maharaj replaces Simelane. Three balls, three singles so far. India’s run rate is hovering around six and Hardik’s stay in the middle is making it worse. He’s currently scored 12 runs off 21 deliveries

Peter continues. Intotal, this venue has hosted nine T20Is and the average first innings total is 136. India needs 60 more runs in seven overs to match this

Simelane is back into the attack, replaces Maharaj. Three singles off as many deliveries. Six runs came from the over 

Peter continues. Hardik is having a hard time in the middle as he’s not able to get any sort of proper connection. He has scored just five runs off 11 balls. Now what has happened here! Hardik finally middles one straight, it takes a deflection off Peter’s hands and crashes on to the stumps at non-striker’s end. Axar was way outside the crease and has to walk back! Unlucky! Rinku Singh walks into the middle. Over comes to an end with a dot

Maharaj continues. Quicker delivery and with the arm, Hardik tries to sweep but misses and the ball goes inches away from the top of off stump

Nqabayomzi Peter is into the attack, replaces Markram. Starts off with a fuller delivery down the legs and it takes a deflection off the pads and runs away for a FOUR! Axar converts a full delivery into a half volley and lofts it over covers for a FOUR! Touch and go but it pitched just before the boundary line

Maharaj continues. Hardik is off the mark with a single. Short and slightly outside off, Axar rocks back and punches it through covers for a FOUR despite a diving effort from Jansen near the boundary ropes. That brings up India’s 50 as well!

Skipper Markram is into the attack, he replaces Simelane. Quicker through the air and full, Axar slog sweeps it deep for a single, shouts for a catch but it’s nowhere near the fielder. MARKAM STRIKES! Plucked out of thin air! Tilak, tired to capitalise on the width, came down the track and attempted to hit it over the cover fielder but Miller’s brilliant one-handed catch came out of nowhere! Hardik Pandya comes in at six

Keshav Maharaj is introduced, he replaces Coetzee. Two singles of as many deliveries. Short delivery, Tilak rocks back and hits it through the midwicket region but a superb piece of fielding from Stubbs in the deep saves a couple of runs. Shortish again, Tilak places it through the leg side for a single. Seven runs off the over 

Simelane continues. Full and outside off, Axar gives himself room and drives it through covers for a FOUR! Full and straight this time, Axar clears his back leg and smashes it over the bowler’s head for a FOUR! Back of a length and outside off, Axar cuts it late for a single

Change of ends for Coetzee as he replaces Jansen. Fuller delivery on the pads, Tilak picks it up and smokes it through the square leg region for a SIX!

Simelane replaces Coetzee. Length ball towards the pads, SKY flicks it to get a double. Short and slow, nipping into the body, Surya tries to defend but misses, dot. Slightly fuller this time, Surya lofts this one over midwicket for a couple of runs. Simelane nails the yorker and has procured the dividends as he traps Surya leg before. Aboslutely plumb in front. SURYA DEPARTS! Axar Patel has been promoted up the order. 

Jansen continues. Tad short and outside off, Tilak comes down the track and lofts it straight for a FOUR! Jansen angles it away from Tilak, the batter tries to defend, it takes an outside edge but falls well short of the second slip

Gerald Coetzee to bowl the second over. Abhishek welcomes him in some style as he pulls a short one on the legside for a FOUR! First runs on the board for India. Short again, and this time Abhishek decides to leave it alone. Has the short ball ploy worked?? Coetzee bowls short and angles it towards Abhishek’s ribs and the batter is tempted to flick it but looks like it took a deflection off the glove as Klaasen completes the catch behind the stumps. Abhishek takes DRS immediately and ultra edge doesn’t detect any disturbance! Abhishek is safe! ABHISHEK’S LEAN PATCH CONTINUES AS HE IS CAUGHT OUT! Another short one, the southpaw tried to pull but top edges it to the short fine leg fielder! Tilak Varma is the new batter in and he’s off the mark with a single

Hint of lateral movement first up, Jansen pitches it straight and takes it away from Samson as the batter attempts a shot and misses. WHAT A START FOR THE HOME SIDE! JANSEN REMOVES THE BIG FISH SANJU! Sanju moves towards the line of the ball, tries to drive but misses as the ball clips the top of leg stumps! Suryakumar Yadav is in at three. Width offered outside off, Surya swings and misses. JANSEN STARTS OFF WITH A WICKET MAIDEN! 

Good news. The skies have cleared and the drizzling has stopped. Pitch is not covered. Hopefully it stays the same and we get to witness the full 40-over quota. The players have stepped on to the field and it’s time for national anthems
