Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Tom Moody says they do have plans in place for Andre Russell but the key lies in executing them in the eye of the storm.

Speaking to media on the eve of the match against Kolkata Knight Riders here on Saturday evening after heavy rains forced interruption to the training schedule, Moody said Russell has had a phenomenal tournament so far.

“I think, he alone influenced most of the wins they had. Last night (against RCB) it was not quite enough to get over the line. He is such a destructive player that it is all about holding your nerves under enormous pressure and trusting your plans,” Moody said.

He said the rain stoppage to the training this evening actually helped them engage in a healthy discussion about how to approach tomorrow’s game. “I think, it is a blessing in disguise,” he said with a smile.

On the issue of overseas players leaving at one point or the other in the next one week, Moody revealed that David Warner, Shakib Al Hasan will be leaving around the same time after the 12th game for Sunrisers.

“Every match is crucial for us. We have confidence in the depth of the squad and can fill those vacancies. Only the team’s balance and approach might differ but it doesn’t mean we are going to be a weaker side,” Moody said.

Moody is a bit confused when it comes to Sunrisers middle-order failure.

“On one hand there are enormous compliments for Warner and Jonny (Bairstow). Their dominance upfront means less opportunities. The middle-order hasn’t had much exposure in terms number of balls faced compared to the other teams because of the opening pair (consistency). Yes, couple of moments it did fail but that failure is not a consistent thing,” Moody concluded.
