Mumbai Indians players received a heroes welcome on Monday as they returned to their home base after clinching the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the fourth time.

The team was greeted by their fans during an open top-bus ride on Monday and the players were given a rapturous reception to celebrate their win over Chennai Super Kings.

In Hyderabad on Sunday, Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by a run in a nail-biting final.

The victory parade started from Antilia -- the residence of the Ambanis, who own the franchise  -- and culminated at the team hotel in Nariman Point. Captain Rohit Sharma waved at the fans along with Jasprit Bumrah, Yuvraj Singh, coach Mahela Jayawardene. Team owner, Nita Ambani, was there with the team throughout the ride.

The bus crawled through the thousands of flag-waving fans as crowds built up around Peddar Road and Chowpatty. Puneri dholas accompanied the parade.

An open truck was also organised for media photographers and the channel crew.

The team later enjoyed a celebratory reception at Antilla organised by the team owners.
