Shah Rukh Khan to attend KKR’s opening game

The Bollywood star will likely be joined by a few other celebrities on Friday.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ opening game against Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League on Friday will be watched in the stands by a special visitor - Shah Rukh Khan.

The Bollywood star and Knight Riders’ principal owner has confirmed to the Gujarat Lions officials that he will attend Knight Riders’ first match of the season to support the team. “It has been confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan will be coming to watch the first match in Rajkot between GL and KKR,” a team official told Sportstar on Wednesday.

Earlier, there were speculations on whether the actor will be able to attend this game. But the Gujarat Lions franchise, which hosts the first match at its home ground in Rajkot, was informed by the KKR management about Shah Rukh’s presence on Friday. With Shah Rukh gracing the occasion, a few other Bollywood celebrities, too, are expected to join him, and to ensure that all goes well, security has also been beefed up.
