With a troubled right shoulder impeding him, Chris Lynn has not been his usual, devastating self this IPL season. Yet, with his knock of 45 runs off 42 balls against Rajasthan Royals (which, make no mistake, was crucial in the context of the match and Kolkata Knight Riders' IPL 2018 campaign), Lynn showed that he can be effective in another way.
With the KKR batting line-up boasting many stroke-makers, Lynn anchoring the innings cannot be bad for his team, for he has the shots to up his own strike rate later in the innings and his holding one end up makes him a bigger threat to the opposition because of the damage he can cause over 20 overs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad's opening bowler, Sandeep Sharma, will examine Lynn's technique against the moving ball with his own ability to swing the ball in and out of right-handers. Given Sandeep's threat as a swing bowler, the approach that Lynn takes will make for interesting viewing, too.
