Ganguly praised Kohli and said he wants Kohli to score a lot of runs in the next 10 years.

Known for his on-field aggression during his playing days, Sourav Ganguly is a self-confessed fan of Virat Kohli’s batting and wants to see the India Test captain gather lots of runs in the coming years.

Ganguly said Kohli should serve India well in the long run. “If you want to ask him what brand he should endorse for the next 10 years, it is the brand of his batting. I wish he scores lots of runs for India in the next 10 years. Hopefully, he will continue to do that. He is a terrific player,” said Ganguly at a promotional event here on Thursday.

The former India skipper was effusive in his praise for the Delhi cricketer. “Kohli has done wonders for the country within a short span. He is someone who can raise the value of Indian cricket with his intensity, spite and hunger to win.

“You could see this on his face when he walks out to bat or captains India. The country needs him to lead the side at present. He is a great addition to Indian cricket.”

On India’s forthcoming three-match home Test series, starting in Kanpur on September 22, against New Zealand, Ganguly said the Kiwis were better prepared to play the spinners. "New Zealand is aware of the fact that it would be hard to beat India in India. But if you take them with England and Australia, New Zealand would be second best side after England.”

Ganguly, who is also the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), said the Eden Gardens would be ready in time to host the second Test

The CAB chief said a corporate house, Captain TMT bars, would support 10 budding cricketers of Bengal. “They will be supported for their entire career,” said Ganguly.
