It is not everyday that you get to meet the West Indies legend, Brian Lara, and for the young cricketers, it was a lifetime opportunity to share the stage with the batting maestro on Tuesday evening.

The former Caribbean captain was in Jaipur as the chief guest for the Rajasthan Royals junior talent hunt finals, along with Carl Hooper, Ricardo Powell and Lisa Sthalekar. Also, present at the occasion was Royals pacer, Jaydev Unadkat.

At the official conclusion of the trials, the Royals announced the selected 35 girls and 34 boys, and Lara handed over the team jerseys and certificates to the participants. “It’s good to see Rajasthan Royals nurturing players at the grassroots which eventually will help them and more importantly India in the future. It is important that these young kids capitalise on the opportunity offered by the Royals,” Lara said.

Out of the total participants, 60 per cent were from Rajasthan and rest came from all across the country - Chennai, Kerala, Punjab, Hyderabad, North East and Himachal Pradesh to name a few. They underwent the trials under the watchful eyes of Rajasthan Royals’ head of cricket - Zubin Bharucha, Rajasthan Royals coaches and former players -- Amol Muzumdar, Sairaj Bahutule, Dishant Yagnik, Rajesh Chauhan and Satish Sawant.
