Ranji Trophy Highlights 2024 Quarterfinals Day 3 Updates: TN beats Saurashtra by an innings; Andhra closes in on win vs MP

Dipak: Sai Kishore gets his fourth wicket. TN into the semifinals for the first time since 2016-17. TN beats Saurashtra by an innings and 33 runs.

WICKET!! Warrier picks up his third! Unadkat is castled for 4 off 31 balls. TN one wicket away. Saurashtra trails by 37 runs. 

Dhruv Shorey and Atharva Taide carry on where they left off in the first innings, combining for a 50-run stand to put Vidarbha in complete control of its QF vs Karnataka. Vidarbha leads by 224 runs.

Vihari remains unbeaten on 43 to see Andhra through to Stumps on Day 3 with 75 more runs needed vs MP. Madhya Pradesh will hope for early inroads on Day 4 to claw back into the contest.

Hardik Tamore and nightwatchman Mohit Avasthi manages to see Mumbai through to stumps with a lead of 57 runs.

WICKET! Turn and bounce for Bhargav Bhatt. Gets the edge of Bhupen Lalwani and second slip makes no mistake. Early breakthrough for Baroda. Mumbai leads by 54 runs.

Huge wicket for Andhra as Ricky Bhui falls for 9. Saransh Jain with the wicket. Andhra still needs 89 runs to win.

Dipak: Sai Kishore gets Dharmendrasinh Jadeja bowled. Soft dismissal. Defended it and trickled onto stumps. Saurashtra trails by 45.

Dipak: Ajith Ram castles Prerak Mankad with an arm ball. Make it 2 off 2. Ajith Ram gets Jani caught & bowled. Saurashtra trails by 48 runs.

Tanush Kotian removes Bhargav Bhatt for a duck to close out the Baroda innings on 348. Centuries from Sashwat Rawat and Vishnu Solanki go in vain as Mumbai manages a crucial 36 run lead. 

Two in two for Umesh Yadav! Koushik is cleaned up first ball and Vidarbha skittle out Karnataka for 286, with a healthy lead of 174 runs.

WICKET!! Baroda’s chances of a first innings lead in grave danger as centution Vishnu Solanki edges a Tushar Deshpande delivery back to the keeper. Baroda trails by 36.

WICKET!! Anubhav Agarwal removes Revanth Reddy for 9. First jolt for Andhra. The needs 156 more runs to win.

Dipak: Wicket!!! Sai Kishore strikes. Kevin Jivrajani hit is straight to Boopathi at short-leg. Good catch. Saurashtra trails by 107 runs.

WICKET!! Shivalik Sharma goes for the big shot and holes out to the fielder in the deep. Mitesh then gets a peach first ball to see his off-stump knocked back. Two in two for Shams Mulani. Baroda trails by 114 runs.

Shayan: That’s it for Madhya Pradesh - all out for 107. Andhra needs 170 to book a semifinal spot.

WICKET!! No reprieve for Hardik this time round. No movement of the feet as he went for a drive against Yash Thakur. Only manages an edge to Karun Nair at slip. 

Shayan: Kartikeya has been bamboozled by Lalith Mohan for 0. MP leads by 156 runs.

Dipak: First ball after lunch, Sandeep Warrier sends sends Sheldon Jackson’s middle-stump flying. What a sight!! Cheteshwar Pujara walks in.

Shayan: Andhra bowlers took a leaf out of their Madhya Pradesh counterparts and bowled stump to stump - a strategy that paid off as the visiting team restricted Madhya Pradesh to 93 for 7 in the first session on Sunday, with Nithish Reddy claiming a four-for, followed by a couple of wickets by K.V. Sasikanth.

Resuming at 21 for 0, Sasikanth found an early breakthrough by rattling Yash Dubey’s off-stump and the home team could never really recover thereafter.

Nithish joined in with a sharp return catch of Harsh Gawali, and just like the first innings, Madhya Pradesh lost wickets at regular intervals and failed to show intent.

Venkatesh Iyer - the highest run-getter of the team - got a reprieve early on as Hanuma Vihari dropped a regulation catch at slips. However, he failed to capitalise and was caught behind by Revanth Reddy on the second ball of Sasikanth’s second spell.

Even though Himanshu Mantri tried to hang in there, he was caught at slip by Prashanth Kumar off a Nithish delivery, and as MP struggled, Lalith Mohan claimed his 100 th first-class wicket, removing Saransh Jain. Andhra reviewed the umpire’s decision and ensured that it got its seventh wicket just before lunch.

Trailing by 155 runs, a spirited Andhra has lots to play for over the next two-and-a-half days. Action awaits in the second session!

WICKET!! Seventh wicket down for Madhya Pradesh for 89. Saransh Jain departs and Lalith Mohan claims his 100th First-class wicket. The initial decision was not out, but Andhra took a review and it was bang on!

Shayan: Nithish has ripped apart Madhya Pradesh batting. Himanshu Mantri caught at slip by Prashanth Kumar. And with that, Madhya Pradesh is at 89 for 6, with a lead of 151 runs.

A fine sweep past the short fine leg fielder brings up the fifty for Nikin Jose off 112 balls. Karnataka trails Vidarbha by 270 runs.

Hardik edges one to slip but the third umpire checks and rules that it pitched ahead of Dhruv Shorey. Hardik survives.

Shayan: Fifth wicket down for MP as Sumit Kushwah departs. The home team has a lead of 146 runs.

Dipak: Warrier strikes. the ball kept low and Harvik Desai rooted to the crease. TN gets the first breakthrough. Saurashtra 10/1.

150 partnership up between Solanki and Rawat. Musheer has bowled well from one end but the batters have managed to keep him at bay. Baroda trails Mumbai by 165 runs. 

A huge wicket. Venkatesh Iyer falls for 17. MP was looking to rebuild after that dropped catch but their effort is cut short by Sasikanth. MP leads by 132.

Dipak: TN bowled out for 338. Dharmendrasinh Jadeja gets Sandeep Warrier. Lead by 155.

A close run-out call but replays show Solanki has just about made his crease. Opened the face to get it behind and some excellent running to scamper back for the third. 200 up for Baroda. Trails by 184.

WICKET!! Big wicket for Vidarbha!! Yash Thakur manages to get through the gate of Manish Pandey. Karnataka trails by 312 runs.

A lengthy front-foot on ball check. Looks like Thakur had enough behind the line. And the third umpire gives him out.

Dipak: Ajith Ram and Sandeep Warrier has since then slowly padded up TN’s first innings total. 334/9. Lead by 151

Fifty for Vishnu Solanki!! 120 runs the partnership with Sashwat Rawat now and Baroda trails Mumbai by just under 200 runs.

Steps down the track and drives Mulani to long on to bring up his three-figure mark. 126 balls for his 100. Baroda trails Mumbai by 204 runs. Still a long way to go for this pair.

Hanuma Vihari drops a regulation catch of Venkatesh Iyer. Big moment in the game. MP leads by 105 runs. 

Fifty partnership runs up between Samarth and Nikin Jose. Samarth crosses the fifty mark as well. Long way to go though. 

Right on cue Samarth has been given lbw. First wicket for Harsh Dubey. Samarth advanced down and yorked himself. Umpire gave himself enough time and raised his finger.

100 partnership between Vishnu Solanki and Sashwat Rawat. The duo has batted through the opening hakf hour and are now getting runs in bucket loads against Mumbai.

Baroda trails by 218 runs.

Dipak: Vijay Shankar is out. Tries to heave Jaydev Unadkat and gets a top-edge. good catch at third man by Dharmendrasinh Jadeja. Saurashtra have a foot back in door.

Shayan: A big wicket. Shubham departs. Another wicket for Nithish. MP leads by 101 runs.

Venkatesh Iyer in at 5. 

Shayan: Gawali gone. A sharp return catch by Nithish. MP leads Andhra by 99 runs.

Dipak: Jani gets his man this time. sends Mohammed’s off-stump cartwheeling. TN leads by 124 runs vs Saurashtra.

Shayan: Cleaned up! Sasikanth strikes early. Terrific delivery by Sasikanth. An early breakthrough as Yash Dubey is dismissed for 9.

Dipak: WICKET!!! Mohammed Ali wafts at one outside off-stump to give a simple catch to first slip. Chirag Jani strikes early.
