India and Nottinghamshire off-break bowler R. Ashwin followed up his eight-wicket haul earlier this week with a six-for in the County Championship Division One match against Surrey at Trent Bridge on Saturday.
Ashwin ripped out Surrey's top order to put Nottinghamshire on top on the first day, finishing with figures of 33.2-9-69-6. England opener Rory Burns and South African opener Dean Elgar were among the spinner's scalps.
Burns was out lbw, while Elgar was bowled by Ashwin. Jordan Clark, Ryan Patel, Jamie Smith and Gareth Batty were his other four wickets.
Having elected to bat first, Surrey was bowled out for 240 in 89.2 overs. Elgar, who is the overseas player for Surrey, top-scored with 59.
This is Ashwin's third match for Nottinghamshire and he already has 17 wickets in four innings, with the six-for against Surrey his best bowling innings so far. He will play three more County Championship fixtures for the bottom-placed club.
