Maratha Arabians will also have the services of Sri Lankan legend Sangakkara as a key player.

Virender Sehwag and Wasim Akram have been roped in by T10 team Maratha Arabians.

Virender Sehwag, Wasim Akram and Kumar Sangakkara are set to be united on the cricket field when the T10 Cricket League gets underway in Sharjah from December 14.

One of the major franchises of the league — Maratha Arabians — has roped in Akram as its coach-cum-mentor while Sehwag will lead the side. The team will also have the services of Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara as a key player.

Ever since hanging up his boots, Akram has been associated with coaching duties in various leagues. He has worked as a bowling mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

“Akram knows the conditions in Sharjah well and that will help the side do better in the tournament,” one of the team officials told Sportstar.

Sportstar has learnt that both Akram and Sehwag are likely to be present for the players draft that happens in Dubai on November 5.  The former Pakistan captain too is looking forward to working with Sehwag. "Having Sehwag as the team captain has accelerated my excitement. T10 is the shortest format of cricket, so it’s going to be amazing to watch a shorter format than T20," Akram told Sportstar, adding: "I’m really extremely thrilled to be a appointed as the mentor and the coach of Team Maratha Arabians."

With the league set for a star-studded launch, Akram's presence will certainly add gloss to it.
