If fellow spinner Anukul Roy had not claimed the final two wickets of Rajasthan on Thursday, Shahbaz Nadeem would have surely emulated the rare feat of claiming all the 10 wickets in a single innings. Nevertheless, Nadeem’s stats were jaw-dropping – 10 overs, 4 maidens, 10 runs, 8 wickets.
Nadeem bettered Rahul Sanghvi’s 8-15 for Delhi against Himachal Pradesh in the 1997-98 season. Chaminda Vaas’ spell of 8-19 against Zimbabwe stands third in the list.
He swept aside Rajasthan’s top-order with ease and twice dismissed two batsman in the same over as Rajasthan was all-out for 73, here at the T.I Murugappa Ground. Jharkhand chased down the target in the 15th over to win by 7 wickets.
The 29-year old has played 86 List A matches for Jharkhand taking 116 wickets with two five wicket hauls before Thursday’s performance. Nadeem has recently played in the unofficial Test match between India A and Australia A, where he claimed five wickets.
