Following a one-year ban from international cricket due to the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa, Steve Smith announced his return to the national side in style with a diving catch against New Zealand XI on Monday.

An elbow injury had kept the star batsman out of the series against Pakistan in March. However, Smith and batsman David Warner featured in Australia's squad for the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. In the lead up to the marquee event, Australia XI played New Zealand XI in an unofficial match at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane which saw both Smith and Warner don the Australian colors for the first time since February 2018.

Smith is coming on the back of a 12-match stint with Indian Premier League side Rajasthan Royals during which he scored 319 runs including three fifties. Here is his stunning catch to dismiss Tom Latham.

David Warner, who also had a successful IPL outing with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, struck a 43-ball 39 as Australia XI bagged a one-wicket win in a thrilling finish.
