Andhra plays Uttar Pradesh and Saurashtra takes on Chattisgarh in Saturday's matches at the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19.

Hello and welcome to Sportstar 's LIVE updates for Saturday's action of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19.

Matches scheduled for Saturday:

Our reporter Abhishek Mukherjee will be sending periodic updates from the Palam ground 'B' in New Delhi, where Andhra takes on Uttar Pradesh.

--------------------------------------------------------------

  • Yashpal Singh's the lone warrior as he gets to his 100 in 104 balls, Manipur, however, on the brink of defeat. It is 166/9.

  • With 51 needed to win, rain has stopped play in Bangalore. Vidarbha is 176/3 with Satish and Wadkar motoring along nicely.

  • Update from Palam: D. Ravi Teja is playing a smart knock. Knowing risks need to be minimised, he is searching for gaps in the field and taking lots of twos. He has a strike-rate of 90 despite having hit only four fours in his 57. He has a big task on his hands as wickets have been falling consistently at the other end. Manish Golamaru was caught by the outfielder after having struck a four and a six through slogs, and later, D. B. Prashant Kumar was out bowled by fast bowler Ankit Rajpoot when he attempted a big heave. Shoaib Mohammad Khan became the seventh wicket to fall; he was run out. Andhra 249/7 in 41 overs.

  • C V Milind is out for 3 as Hyderabad loses its seventh wicket for 201. It needs 46 to win with just two wickets left.

  • WICKET! Jitender 8(22) is caught short of his crease, as Manipur slips to 114/8.

  • After 30 overs, Vidarbha is 130/3, needing 97 more to win. A V Wadkar batting on 35(34) and Ganesh Satish on 21(40).

  • Gone! Mandup Bhutia departs for a duck to leave Sikkim struggling at 133/6.

  • Yashpal Singh gets to his 50 in 63 balls, Manipur 107/7.

  • Chasing 330, Andhra is 201/4, Ravi Teja and Manish Golamaru anchoring the chase.

  • Update from Palam: Middle-order batsmen D. Ravi Teja and B. Sumanth were content with taking singles and doubles, and collecting the odd boundary that came their way - there were late cuts and flicks. It was a period of consolidation, but Sumanth's wicket delivered a further blow to Andhra's hopes. Sumanth, attempting to guide the ball past the bowler for a single, chipped it back to the bowler, who tumbled to his left to complete the catch. Earlier K.  S. Bharat, the opener, was the third batsman to be dismissed; after nearly chopping on Aksh, he inadvertently drifted out of his crease and was run out by the wicket-keeper. Andhra 186/4 in the 31st over

  • WICKET! A R Kumar is out for a five-ball duck, Himachal 69/2.

  • WICKET! A V Kolhar 41(66) is caught off Manish Rao, as Vidarbha loses its third wicket for 81.

  • Manipur in all sorts here. Two wickets in quick succession has seen it slip to six for 72. It needs 162 to beat Meghalaya.

  • Update from Palam: Andhra is still well in the hunt, having maintained a run-rate hovering around six per over. But it suffered a big blow in the run-out of Ashwin Hebbar in the 13th over. Ashwin had been the aggressor until then, having hit nine fours and six sixes in his innings, and looked ominous in the middle. Boundaries have been sporadic since, K. S. Bharat hitting one in the 16th over - the ball went through the cover fielder - and the 18th - a flick. Andhra 132/2 in 20 overs.

  • Akshath Reddy 63(61) is trapped in front by Pappu Roy, Hyderabad 119/1. It needs 129 more to win.

  • END OF INNINGS:Karnataka finishes on 257/8 in 38 overs. Himachal needs 258 to win.

  • Manipur tottering at 50/3, it is still 189 short of the target. Meghalaya well and truly on top.

  • Update from Palam: "Ashwin Hebbar has provided a lively start to the chase, while his opening partner is in the middle of a scratchy innings. Ashwin has hit five fours and three sixes so far - hitting pulls, square drives, square cuts and slogs through mid-wicket. The 10th over of the innings, bowled by Amit Mishra, has been especially expensive. Ashwin deposited a six through square leg, then played two slogs - for a six and a four." Andhra 70/0 in the 11th over.

  • After 10 overs,Manipur is reeling at 42/3 , it needs 197 more to win, Jayanta 3(6) Yashpal Singh 10(12) in the middle.

  • Elsewhere, Aniruddha 42(31) is caught off R R Dhawan, as Karnataka loses its eight wicket for 247.

  • Hyderabad off to a solid start in its pursuit of Odisha's 247. It is 54/0 in nine overs.

  • Chasing 367, Sikkim has lost its first wicket — Bibek 1(13) is out caught off D Dhapola, Sikkim 20/1.

  • Faiz Fazal 9(18) is trapped in front by Avinash Yadav, as Vidarbha loses its first wicket for 16.

  • WICKET! Vinay Kumar is caught by M J Dagar as Karnataka loses its sixth for 211.

  • END OF INNINGS: Meghalaya has reached 238/5 in 50 overs, Yogesh Nagar 67 off 79 and Abhay Negi 12 off 9 taking the side to a respectable total. Manipur needs 239 to win.

  • END OF INNINGS: F ifties by Saurabh and Madhur have anchored Railways to 226/8. Vidarbha needs 227 to win.

  • END OF INNINGS: Karanveer's blitzkrieg (202, 135b) coupled with Vineet's (100, 133b) heroics with the bat have propelled Uttarakhand to a gargantuan 366/2. Sikkim needs 367 to win.

  • Lunch Break: Chhattisgarh is 63/1 in 12 overs, needing 48 more to win.

  • END OF INNINGS: Poddar's 108-ball 93 powered Odisha to 247/8. Hyderabad needs 249 to win.

  • Lunch Break: Nagaland is 67/2 going into lunch. It needs 34 more to beat Mizoram.

  • END OF INNINGS: Aksh Deep Nath 118(78) and Samarth Singh 115(130) have powered Uttar Pradesh to a mammoth 329/4. Andhra needs 330 to win. It's been frenetic run-making in the last 10 overs as Samarth Singh and Aksh Deep Nath smashed the fast bowlers all around the ground. The two took turns to tonk the bowlers, but Aksh eventually took the lead in garnering big hits, leading UP to a crescendo towards the end. Samarth had set the tone with a pull, a cut and a flick leading up to the 44th over to increase the scoring rate. By this time, the fast bowlers, K.V. Sasikanth and Ayyappa Bandaru were in operation. It seemed easier to take advantage of the ball coming on to the bat nicely, and moreover, there were plenty of loose deliveries - short deliveries sitting to be hit, full tosses and length deliveries. Aksh executed a number of pulls between the midwicket and square leg region from the 44th and the 47th overs as Sasikanth kept dishing out short deliveries. Samarth also joined in, playing the drive to extra cover for four off Bandaru. UP reached 330/4 off 50 overs. Aksh had overtaken his partner. He finished with an unbeaten 119 (79b, 9X4, 5X6) and Samarth finished with an unbeaten 115 (130b, 10X4, 2X6).

  • Manish Pandey 28(30) and Samarth R 54(57) have taken Karnataka to 123/2 after 20 overs.

  • END OF INNINGS: Yogesh Nagar struck a 79-ball 65 as Meghalaya reached a fighting 238/5. Manipur needs 239 to win.

  • After 10 overs, Chhattisgarh is 46/1 . It needs 65 more to win, R. Tiwari batting on 33(39) and Manoj Singh on 7(18).

  • 100 up for Samarth Singh as  Uttar Pradesh closes in on the 300-run mark. It is 293/4.

  • Paras 26(8) is trapped in front by S Zorinliana, Nagaland is 42/2.

  • C.V. Milind grabs a five-for (8.5-0-33-5), Odisha 218/7.

  • Vineet Saxena reaches his 100 in 131 balls as Uttarakhand continues to pulverize the opposition bowlers. It is 296/0

  • After 40 overs, Railways is 139/7. Madhur Khatri 23(23) and Avinash Yadav 11(26) steering Railways to a modest total.

  • Odisha reaches 200 in 44 overs , Raut batting on 21 off as many deliveries, Prayas Singh on 3.

  • WICKET! Ashutosh Singh 1(2) is caught short of his crease as Chhattisgarh loses its first wicket for 2. It is 2/1, chasing 111.

  • END OF INNINGS: Imliwati and Inakato pick up three wickets each as Mizoram folds for 100. Nagaland needs 101 to win.

  • Govinda Poddar 93(108) misses out on a hundred; he's out caught off Akash Bhandari.  Odisha 163/3

  • Karanveer Kaushal reaches his 150 in 101 balls (15x4, 7x6). Team Uttarakhand in ascendancy 247/0

  • Update from Palam: "Time at the crease has resulted in the gaining of confidence. Both batsmen have struck a few fours between them; the shots played included paddle sweep, pull, and reverse-sweep. Samarth reached his half-century, much to the delight of the dressing room, which has been encouraging the two batsmen in the middle loudly. Aksh Deep had a couple of reprieves, however, off Karn in the 34th over. He came down the track to the off-spinner, but missed the ball altogether, only for the keeper to miss it too as the ball raced to the boundary behind him. In the same over, Karn had a loud appeal for lbw, turned down by the umpire." UP 198/4 in 39 overs.

  • END OF INNINGS: Ruikar's 6 for 26 makes light work of Saurashtra as it folds for a paltry 110. Chattisgarh needs 111 to win.

  • Karnataka has lost its first wicket as opener Abhishek Reddy departs for 29. Karnataka 36/1 after 6 overs.

  • A five-for for Sumit Ruikar (7.5-1-24-5) reduces Saurashtra to 103/8.

  • Karanveer Kaushal and Vineet Saxena toying with the Sikkim bowlers as Uttarakhand breaches the 200-run mark in 3.4 overs.

  • Taruwar Kohli's 33(70) vigil comes to an end, as Team Mizoram slips to 75/6.

  • Update from Palam: "A promising innings was cut short when Suresh Raina fell after reaching his half-century, to seamer Ayyappa Bandaru. Until then, he had been comfortably negotiating the spinners, and tonking them whenever he felt like it. Samarth Singh and Aksh Deep Nath, at the crease, are content with exploiting the gaps in the field. UP 154/4 in 31 overs.

  • WICKET! Saurabh Wakaskar 57(81) departs after making a fifty, A A Sarvate with the breakthrough.  Railways 93/4

  • Sumit Ruikar gets his fourth wicket! Saurashtra 85/6 against  Chattisgarh after 28 overs.

  • Suresh Raina's innings comes to an end after a well-crafted 52 from 44 balls. Uttar Pradesh is four down. 118/4 after 24 overs.

  • Saurashtra is losing wickets at regular intervals. Chirag Jani is bowled by Shivendra Singh and Saurashtra languishes at 67/5 in 24 overs.

  • Update from Palam: "Suresh raina has infused life into the innings in a phase of play otherwise dominated by spinners. raina executed an inside-out stroke for four off shoaib in the 16th over, and later in the same over, pulled him four a boundary. The latter narrowly evaded a diving fielder at midwicket. In the next over bowled by Karn, Raina played another inside-out stroke, this time for six through extra cover.

He came close to getting run out once again, drifting out of his crease after his batting partner samarth singh gently placed a delivery towards the mid-on fielder. Raina had to scramble back in.

    It's 92 for 3 in the 20th over."

  • Saurashtra keep losing wickets in regular intervals. Sumit Ruikar gets his third wicket, dismissing Makwana for 3. Saurashtra 44/4 after 15 overs.

  • Saurashtra loses two wickets in quick succession. Umang Sharma also departs and Saurashtra is 27/2 after 10 overs.

  • Sheldon Jackson is bowled by Sumit Ruikar and Saurashtra is 27/1 after 8.2 overs.

  • Update from Palam: "Two careless dismissals have taken the sheen on an otherwise positive start to Uttar Pradesh's innings in its Group 'B' contest against Andhra at the Air Force Complex here. Abhishek Goswami struck five fours in his innings of 23 before playing a mistimed lofted stroke off the bowling of seamer K. V. Sasikanth. He was caught by the mid-off fielder.

Soon after, No. 3 Umang Sharma also fell. Opener Samarth Singh gently paddle-swept leg-spinner Karn Sharma and the batsmen decided to attempt a risky single. Umang, running to the danger end, was found short of the crease by the third umpire.

Uttar Pradesh 40/2 in the 12th over."
