India star batter Virat Kohli and Pakistan pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi interacted on Friday ahead of the high-voltage clash between the teams in the Asia Cup on Sunday.

“Aapke liye duaen kar rahe hai ki waapis form mein aaye (We are praying for your comeback. Want to see you in form again),” Afridi was heard telling Kohli in a video shared by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Twitter.

“Take care, get well soon,” Kohli said in reply.

On Saturday, Afridi was ruled out of Asia Cup 2022 with a knee injury. He will also miss of the home series against England, which starts from September 20, but is expected to return to action during the New Zealand Tri-Series in October, which will be followed by the T20 World Cup in Australia. Afridi had sustained a right knee ligament injury while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

Meanwhile. Kohli is coming off a long break, having played his last international match in July against England. The 33-year-old heads into the continental event on the back of a poor form, which includes a century drought exceeding 1000 days.

Pakistan will sorely miss the services of its strike bowler Afridi, who rattled India at the T20 World Cup 2021 with figures of three for 31. Afridi dismissed openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul inside the first three overs before getting the better of Kohli, who top-scored for India with a 49-ball 57. Pakistan went on to register a thumping 10-wicket win, which was its first-ever victory over the Men in Blue in a World Cup in any format.
