LIVE
90' It's full time and the game has failed to produced a goal,. It's the first goalless draw between the two teams at Old Trafford in the Premier League era.
Even though his side drops out of the top four (with Arsenal winning 2-0 against Southampton), Solskjaer will be the happier of the two managers after a concerning first half. Klopp's Liverpool goes top of the table, but barely. It has a one-point advantage over Manchester City.
90' Just 2 minutes of added time.
90' Chance! A brilliant cross from the right from Lukaku but Smalling fails to get a touch on it to direct it in.
89' Young's gone over Wijnaldum and United has a free-kick just inside Liverpool's half. Smalling has also joined the attack.
88' Robertson plays in a menacing cross to Sturridge but he shoves Shaw in front of him and gives away a free-kick.
85' Liverpool's attack has missed that sharpness about it today. Mane plays a ball to Shaqiri but there's too much on it and it goes out for a goal kick.
82' Liverpool wins a free-kick again. Milner takes it this time and it's poor. Ashley Young easily sends it out of the box.
81' Wijnaldum wins Liverpool a free-kick. Shaqiri takes it but it's easily headed out by Lukaku.
79' Final substitution for Liverpool. Mohamed Salah is taken off and Divock Origi takes his place.
79' Robertson with a good cross at the end of a slow build-up from Liverpool. It's out for a corner.
75' Goal? Offside! Luke Shaw finds Smalling with a free-kick and he sends it back across goal. It takes a deflection off Matip and goes in!! But Smalling was offside.
72' Shaqiri comes on for Jordan Henderson. Mo Salah goes up front and Shaqiri takes his place on the right flank.
70' Milner steals the ball and powers down the right flank, Pogba with him. It goes out for a corner. Pogba annoyed with Sanchez for not tracking Milner. Wijnaldum's header from the corner takes a deflection off McTominay and goes out for another corner. Matip gets his head to the next corner but it goes out for a goal kick.
68' The game still waits for a moment of quality from either side as Shaqiri gets ready to come in.
66' Wijnaldum shoots from distance but its high.
65' Xerdan Shaqiri is warming up for Liverpool. Man United will remember what he did to them in December. Klopp's probably hoping for a repeat.
64' Poor touch from McTominay as he gives the ball away and Liverpool drive forward. Salah can't control a pass and Lindelof clears it out for a throw.
62' Liverpool trying the direct route now. Milner plays a long ball into the box but Smalling gets there to head it safely into the hands of De Gea.
60' There's more fluidity and calmness about United now, depsite the rise in intensity. Pogba does well to get to the goal line in the box but squares it straight to the keeper.
57' United on the frontfoot once more. Pogba starts a good move, finding Young with lots of space on the right. Lukaku then crosses it in well but nothing comes of it. Rashford's volley on the second ball is wide.
55' Young with the corner but Pogba's header is weak. Salah tries to start a counter but his pass is poor and it's back with United.
55' Pereira does extremely well to win a corner. United starting to look dangerous and the crowd is pumped! Intense atmosphere here.
==> United had a torrid opening half as Solskjaer was forced to make all three substitutions in the first 43 minutes. More on that here - Manchester United 'Hamstrung' against Liverpool
53' Andreas Pereira makes a crucial block as Henderson tried to put a low cross into the box. It's a Liverpool corner.
52' Young takes another free-kick. But Liverpool's working the offside trap to good effect. Sanchez is offside as he gets his head to it.
51' McTominay wins Man United a free-kick and heads are lining up outside the box. CHANCE! Pogba gets on the end of a good ball in but it's straight at Alisson.
49' Shaw has looked strong against Salah on the right flank. The Egyptian forward has found it hard to find the space to sprint into and make something happen for Liverpool.
46' Liverpool is sensing a golden opportunityu here, with Solskjaer using up all three of his substitutions.
Things not going United's way in the first half
Meanwhile, goals from Lacazette and Mkhitaryan have put Arsenal 2-0 up against Southampton.
It's only the eighth time in Premier League history a team has had to make all three substitutions before half time.
45+5' That's the end of the first half . Stop-start and chaotic. Injuries plaguing the half and United has already made its three substitutions and Liverpool one. It's still goalless.
45+4' Shaw-Salah has been an interesting battle so far. The United fullback does well to see the ball out.
45' Four minutes added on. The first half has been anything but free-flowing.
44' Sanchez with his first contribution. Lukaku gets on the end of his cross after outmuscling Robertson but it's an easy save for Alisson. Robertson needs some medical attention here, after the big Belgian landed on him after the header.
42' Problem for Lingard. He's on the floor after that chance and United will have to use its third substitution before half-time. Alexis Sanchez comes on for the injured Lingard. There will be questions directed at Solskjaer after the game.
40' Lingard comes so close to putting United in front. Pereira makes a good interception to start the move. Lukaku plays Lingard through and he just has Allison to beat in the box, but the goalkeeper charges forward and takes the ball as Lingard tries to go around him.
39' It's an annoyed and worked-up Klopp on the touchline. And Milner isn't doing anything to calm him down. It's another poor cross from the fullback.
36' Pogba getting into groove. United finally makes a patient build up. Rashford passes it to Pogba who takes a shot from the edge of the box. It's a good shot but Virgil van Dijk. heads it out for a corner. The corner's wasteful.
34' Manchester United has done nothing so far to show for its attacking resurgence under Solskjaer. Its finding it hard to stitch a move together while fortifying at the back.
33' And Sturridge is already trying to make an impact. His ambitious shot from 40 yards out is meek.
31' Here's the change. Daniel Sturridge comes on for Roberto Firmino who rolled up his ankle a few minutes ago. From almost nowhere to the intensity of a Man United-Liverpooll game for Sturridge.
29' Milner's crossing has been dismal so far. He puts a low one in, but only gets past the first man. United clears.
28' Looks like another substitution could took place. This time for Liverpool. Sturridge is warming up and it looks like Firmino who will make way.
26' It's still all Liverpool. And what a window of opportunity this is for Klopp's men. United has been unsettled, similar to its Champions League match against PSG where Lingard and Martial went off injured.
24' Mata's on the floor after putting everything he had left to stop a quick counter attack from Liverpool. That's another Spanish midfielder down for United today. Lingard comes on.
James Milner picks up a yellow card after a cynical challenge on Paul Pogba.
20' Ander Herrera's been substituted! Rashford seems fine still. Andreas Pereira comes on for Herrera after the midfielder picked up a knock. Meanwhile, Mata also doesn't seem to be moving well.
17' Both Lingard and Sanchez are warming up as Rashford looks uncertain on the pitch after picking up a knock. Rashford going away could be a big blow to United which needs that outlet up front, especially with so many men behind the ball.
15' Centre-back Joel Matip dribbles through a set of United bodies until Herrera blocks him right at the edge of the box and it's a Liverpool free kick in a good position. Salah's shot is high.
13' Rashford could come off. He still seems to be feeling it after the Henderson challenge and Jesse Lingard has been sent out to warm-up.
9' Luke Shaw gives the ball away poorly. Firmino drives through to the edge of the box but the attack dissipates with a weak cross from Mane.
8' Controlled build-up from Liverpool from the back but the move falls apart with a stray pass. Meanwhile United is still trying to get into the game.
7' Rashford with a shot from outside the box but doesn't make good contact. And quickly on the other end, Salah makes a menacing run inside the box and squares it but it hits a defender's leg and it's safely cleared.
4' It's been pretty scrappy so far. Neither team able to stamp its authority. You wouldn't expect different when two big guns clash.
KICK OFF and there's already things happening. Ashley Young's backpass almost falls to Firmino, but De Gea gets there in time. But wait, the referee's given Liverpool a free-kick inside United's penalty area. Milner takes it and it goes high.
Scott McTominay is a surprise inclusion on the Man United starting line-up. The youngster taking the place of Nemanja Matic. Can he handle the pressure today?
We're just moments away from kick-off of what is one of the biggest games of the season so far. With 11 games still to go, there isn't anything defenitive about it. But try telling that to Liverpool and United fans.
The players have walked out onto the pitch. A minute early, actually, to observe a minute of applause for Eric Harrison - the former United youth team coach who passed away on February 14.
Here are the starting line-ups
It's always big when Manchester United and Liverpool clash. But this time, it's going to be more than a North west derby. Liverpool can get back to the top of the table with a win, but this isn't the same Manchester United it dominated 3-1 in December.
Jose Mourinho was sacked right after the defeat and United hasn't lost a match since interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge and restored belief at the club.
A Liverpool loss would mean a new twist in the title race. Could this be Liverpool's last big hurdle?
