I-League champion Chennai City receives prize money from AIFF

I-League champion Chennai City FC received its prize money of Rs. 1 crore from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Thursday.

In a letter addressed to AIFF general secretary Kushal Das, the club said: "We, Chennai City Football Club write to you today in continuation of our earlier letter dated 25th June, 2019. We wish to confirm that today, we have received from the All India Football Federation, the prize money for winning the I-League 2018-19 season."

"We wish to express our gratitude to your office and the national Federation for expediting the matter and we look forward to your positive reply with regard to the subject matter as per our letter dated 25th June 2019."

The club had written earlier to the AIFF on Tuesday to seek a resolution to its pending I-League prize winner's money . Chennai City had also requested a special invitation to attend the AIFF's Executive Committee meeting on July 3 to put forward its views on the league's future.

"We request you to grant us special invitation to the scheduled Executive Committee meeting on July 3rd, 2019 either collectively (all I-League club owners present) or individually, as the current champions of the I-League," the statement read.
